Re: What's the best Chorus Pedal?

For something painfully simple and subtle I love my EH Nano Clone. I've never played a Small Clone before to compare, only difference I know of is the Nano only has a rate knob while the full size one has a mode switch. Lol, could it have hurt them to add one?

the pedal has a lot of really bad talk because of how noisy it is, and the noticeable volume cut when engaged. Both of those things don't bother me as much, because I only use it for playing cleaner rhythm stuff, and I play a strat so i guess I'm used to a little hum.

The best chorus is NO chorus.

If you absolutely have to provide the world with more chorused guitar then I recommend the voodoo lab analog chorus.

Re: What's the best Chorus Pedal?

i'm definitely no expert on chorus...but i dig my H20 quite a bit...very lush and organic (liquid). it can go from a slight phase sound to over the top wet chorus...the echo is pretty decent as well, just doesn't have tap tempo!

i've had the rocktron tsunami and this pedal is quite a bit above that in sound and feel!

just my 2 cents...

p.s. off of second hand info...the three Chorus pedals that i hear and read rave reviews about the most are the Voodolab Analog, Retrosonic Chorus ensemble, & Homebrew Electronics THC Chorus :14:

Re: What's the best Chorus Pedal?

Looking at the chorus reviews on Harmony Central, the one that gets uniformly rave reviews is the Analogman Clone Chorus. All in the 9.5 to 10 in terms of "sound quality".

The Voodoo Labs Chorus has a 2 to 10 range in terms of "sound quality". Some guys love it - others feels it boosts the signal to much when it's on. That seems to be a real issue with some players.

you can't go wrong with Analogman stuff either!

but i usually take HC reviews with a grain of salt!

yeah man, i usually only trust the reviews from people who state in the review that they have decent gear, gig, and have been playing for long enough to have owned a good bit of gear to compare. And the guys who post reviews for FX pedals and run them through Marshall MG15 amps are not to be trusted.

I think the best you can do with those reviews is pay more attention to specific details like "It has a stereo out" or "Internal trip pots allow you to fine-tune the settings," and less attention to qualitative statements like "This is the best pedal I've ever owned." The latter stuff just isn't helpful.
