I bought a used guitar and the pickups are quite filthy. How should I clean them without ruining the pickups?

BRASSO metal polish works excellent...
Works great on the metal and bobbins... it is also what to use to remove the Duncan Logo from a pickup!

WD40 works pretty good depending on what's stuck to them.

Plus, you won't have to worry about your pickups squeaking...lol.

Brasso on nickel covers. That's what drummers use to clean cymbals too. If you don't want to buy that, just use a tiny bit of toothpaste on a piece of cloth.

on bobbin plastic, I just wipe it clean with a little lemon oil on a rag.....same thing I use on fretboards.

I use Brasso. Great for polishing up everything from nickel covers to the plastic bobbins of humbuckers. And like BachToRock said, it's great for removing the logo to make your pickup look vintage. Lew

I set up the guitar and cleaned it it sounds god.... the picks lok dirty however.. Thanks for the input... I do have WD40 but was hesitating with that. ( the Pickups are original..) I gues iwill use the BRASSO
