I don't know why you couldn't mix?

Yeah, and the brass baseplate thing, etc. But many regard it as the closest. There is probably some air classic (or the old virtual vintage) that share more sonic similarities even though the mechanics are different.

PAF Pro is a good pick, but I'd also say that the Humbucker from Hell is along the lines of super clarity in a neck pickup.

Glad to still see you here man! I'm dying to try out a HFH in the neck of an LP someday.

For sure! I've got one in a mahog superstrat and it was a smidge muddy on the lower strings and frets. I lowered it down quite and bit and raise all the polepieces up pretty high and now it sounds really good. Clearest neck humbucker I've ever heard.

Curious how many low count posters come in here to support DiMarzio.

Re: whats the closest dimarzio pickup that sounds like a duncan jazz

Are high count posters allowed to support Dimarzio?

Get the duncan jazz but if it mist me a DIM get the HFH and set it close to the strings. the paf pro is too modern sounding to compare to a jazz.
the jazz and HFH both have that "single coil" thing goin on

Re: whats the closest dimarzio pickup that sounds like a duncan jazz

My experience with the HFH was that is was a bit thinner and lower output than the Jazz, the PAF Pro was a bit too mid oriented, but the PAF Joe was much closer to the '59n/Jazz N world. The PAF Joe was acceptable.

I am not an endorsee. I prefer the Duncans to the similar sounding DiMarzio counterparts.

well the pickups going in n old squier stagemaster hh strat, im trying to go from a randy rhoads tone to a metallica tone to a heavy blues tone if needed. im just been playing guitar for about 6 months so any suggestions would be a great help. also the amp im using is a fender super chmp xd. thanks so much

The HFH has a tendency to sound like whatever the fretboard is. I have only liked it in the neck position of maple fretboard guitars. It's weak, bright and fairly transparent which means it is not the corrective surgery that Dimarzio's marketing makes it out to be. In other words it doesn't shape the sound of the neck position, instead it transmits the sound with a minimum of coloration.

Duncan Distortion bridge, Duncan 59n in the neck. Done, Done, and Done!

That will do all those things (well, the DD isn't the best blues bridge pup...LOL)
