I have yet to see a very good description of the Cool Rails. How does this pickup sound in the neck position?

I remember somebody said it is closer to Jazz in tone. I don't see it get many discussed here though.

The cool rail was my all time favorite pick up for the neck in Strat style guitars. It's a little like a cross between a PAF and a strong thick single coil. If used in a bright guitar, and you don't use tons of effects, it's heavenly. It's the only ceramic pick-up I ever liked, but I play mores blues/jazz/americana. If you do metal, you might find the clean tones amazing but the over-driven tones mediocre? Ironically, the cool rail bridge model sounded horrid to me.

has alot more oomph than a Jazz IMO.. They came stock in the neck and mid positions of my Washburn MG130s and they are great for cooking leads and give a warm clean. Not real spanky clean

This might help... The first half of this tune is played on my Hot Rails neck pickup and the second half is played on my Cool Rails middle pickup. It's important to note also that my middle pickup is the Cool Rails "bridge" version. I tried a few different combinations with this Strat and I really liked the way this combo sounded and balanced. This is in a mahogany body, maple neck Warmoth Strat...
