The cool rail was my all time favorite pick up for the neck in Strat style guitars. It's a little like a cross between a PAF and a strong thick single coil. If used in a bright guitar, and you don't use tons of effects, it's heavenly. It's the only ceramic pick-up I ever liked, but I play mores blues/jazz/americana. If you do metal, you might find the clean tones amazing but the over-driven tones mediocre? Ironically, the cool rail bridge model sounded horrid to me.
