Whats the difference between the old Boss AC-2 Acoustic Simulator and the new AC-3 Acoustic Simulator? I have the old one so I'm just curious if theres really any difference between them. How do they differ from eachother? Anyone have experience with both?

From what I understand, just reverb. The AC-2 was the single worst pedal that I've ever owned. Could not get a remotely useful sound out of it with humbuckers (although I've since learned that it was designed to be used with single coils. I've only had a short time to play with the AC-3, but it seemed to be the same pedal with revreb added.

Does anyone else make an acoustic simulator? I like the idea of being able to go from an acoustic like guitar tone to some distortion. At first I liked the Boss acoustic simulator when I played it at the store but when I got it home I couldn't get decent tone out of it with my own gear. Your probably right about the acoustic simulator pedal being created for the use of single coil equipped guitars. It definately makes sense when you think about it. Unfortunately, I only have humbucker equipped guitars... :smack: Thanks for the information dude. :D Anyone else have anything to add?.. :)

Mine is about to go on the bay. Played with it for about a month and decided it is really not that great, make some interesting tones but nothing like an acoustic.

I know they added reverb to the AC-3, but I'm nost sure if they changed the type of processing. I have an AC-2, which is a lot of fun to mess with. It works great single coils and humbuckers, depending on where you dial the knobs. If you want acoustic simulation for an electric guitar, but you still want more tweakability, go for an equalizer. If you get either a graphic or a parametric equilizer, I can show you how to make an acoustic simulator setting.
