What's the hottest, most metal Tele bridge pickup?

Yeah, I returned that pickup. When I tried measuring it with the multimeter, it wasn't reading anything for some reason. Must have gotten a defective one.

Alright, back to the drawing board. Please suggest me more pickups.

Got the Tele Hot Rails. Was defective. Didn't read anything in the multimetermeter, and it was thin as hell.

Got the Super Distortion T. Is defective. Sounds good, but it's microphonic.

So the search goes on. I'm sure I could be happy with either of those pickups if they weren't defective, but I take it as a message from the metal gods to keep searching for something more unique.

So what else is out there?

How does the Piledriver, Brute Force, and Cobra T compare from BKP? Any experience?

How about the Quarter Pound?

I've got a Hot Rails and it's got a very thick, heavy sound , so I would think you got a bad one. I had the same experience with a Dimebucker. Everyone raved about them, but I thought it sounded horrible. Thin and weak.

I think getting an intact HR is still your best bet.

The QP is special taste and hums like a MF. For heavy stuff with gain I wouldn't use them.

I never tried the BK pickups. Would be curious what you think if you want to be Guinness pig.

Yeah - Hot Rails is always at least a "correct" answer for Metal? In a single size slot.

It is hard to make a judgement on a pickup if it is defective. Get a working Hot Rails and be done with it.

So I got a Quarter Pound. So far, I dig it, but I'm not 100% sure it's what I'll end up keeping.

The EQ is damn near perfect. It's got a cool upper-mid grind that kinda resembles the JB. The top-end retains a hint of twang, but it's not overpowering so that it sounds squelchy, scratchy, and weird like most single coils do under high-gain. The low-end is surprisingly tight. Like I said, the EQ is pretty close to perfection. Almost sounds like a single coil version of the JB, which I absolutely love. I dig it much better than the fatter Super Distortion T.

I just wished it had a tad more output. I was expecting it to be at least on par with the Super Distortion T seeing the QP has a pretty hot wind at more than 17K, but it isn't. It's a cool pickup regardless. I'll keep it for now, but I'm still keeping my eyes open for the perfect Tele metal pickup, LOL.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing right now. Maybe I'm being too OCD about it, but I find that if a pickup doesn't give me EVERYTHING I want, I can't quite fall in love with it. I mean, after all, we are lucky that we're in a pickup market that's so wide and varied, I'm sure there's something out there that gives me what I want. I just gotta look for it enough.

I might have to go CS, and order a QP+ with Alnico 8 magnets, haha.

:)

You'd probably have better luck putting hella heavy strings on it. That's probably the only good way to really dial back the twang

I did write to the Custom Shop. I asked them if they would make me an overwound QP, but now that I think about it, I could ask for a Lil' Black Winter if I wanted to. Or a single coil Slug, like Mincer suggested. Hmmmm... let's see what they reply. I think I might go CS on this.

Do you think a Blackout for Tele would be doable?

Not sure if anyone said anything but the Lace Sensor Red rips. I have a loner strat with the red/silver/blue set and people are always blown away by the bridge pickup.

How is it? I've looked into it, but haven't found much info on it. Is it high output? Is it chunkier rather than twangy?

You could also challenge the CS, and tell them what you want (tone description, super high output) and see what they come up with.

So just heard back from the CS. No Blackout for Tele. They can do an overwound QP. And no 'Lil Black Winter. They said I need to look into the Hot Rails, LOL.
