I have to admit, I really like the 2555 and 2550 Marshall Jubilees and Slash model. If you bias them nicely with the best tubes, they kick butt. Everything from Voxy cleans to Zakk Wylde type gain....you can dial in a lot of shades of gain with it.

When I compare it to the Bogner Ecstasy, the Jubilee has more 80's JCM800 modded crunch, but the Bogner stomps on it, since it's wider sounding, and has throaty growly mids, almost like a 72 Marshall Superbass with the same versatility as a POD XT. On the Bogner, I can get a Twin all the way to massive crushing gain, and every vintage Marshall tone in plexi mode. They cost a lot, but they're pure joy to plug into. Read the harmony reviews on the Ecstasy 101B. There's guys who've used every amp, and they rave about the Bogner. I just retubed it again, and it's a thoroughbred killing machine! I've started messing with the Class A mode a lot more, and the clean tones are shimmering and beautiful. It's always surprising that an amp that can do great gain tones can also sound better than my Matchless on cleans. It's the last thing I'd ever sell.

One feature on mine that I haven't even used yet is cabinet assigning. One of these days, I'll take the back off my Bogner 2-12, and assign the clean channel to that, then assign the blue and red channels to the closed back 4-12. Maybe I'll do that tonight, and see how that feature is.

Hey Bro, I really have to get with you and let you hear my modded 2210....I do believe you would be quite impressed!

I've owned a 2205 and 2210, and I liked the 2210 a lot more. The 2205 was a lemon. I remember what you said about earlier 2210's sounding a bit better than the later ones. In any case, my favorite Marshalls have been modded ones.
Sometimes I see modded Marshalls returned to stock, for collector interest, and I have to wonder if they made a big mistake.

Re: What's the ONE Marshall that Gives You the Most VIBE?

My new 1x6inch speaker MG practice amp kicks butt!!!!!

Just kidding...... always wanted a 1959 head but all i own is a early 80's JCM 800

Re: What's the ONE Marshall that Gives You the Most VIBE?

JCM-800's are killer amps. Finished the foundations of rock IMHO. I'd personally love to have one to play on, but first thing's first... ;)

Umm, actually the later ones sounded much better....(i don't remember ever saying otherwise...but whatever....:) )

Mine's not exactly stock by any stretch....

Trust me, if you're digging the Bogner.. you're gonna like this!..coolest thing about being an amp tech and making my own amps, I DO get everything I want!....(not "bragging".... by any means!)

Re: What's the ONE Marshall that Gives You the Most VIBE?

I liked the 1959HW

Non-Marshall I LOVE THE BOGNER SHIVA and ROCCAFORTEs

Re: What's the ONE Marshall that Gives You the Most VIBE?

Marshall with the most vibe? My Fargen VOS ;) Imagine the best plexi Marshall crossed with some bloom and sustain like a Dumble.

Re: What's the ONE Marshall that Gives You the Most VIBE?

JMP 50 heads.. i love the scratchier aspect of them, i use a lot of different OD pedals when i can, and this is the perfect blank canvas for me :)

'78 Marshall and '81 Park 50w models. Essentially the same amp-

Re: What's the ONE Marshall that Gives You the Most VIBE?

'69 100w plexi Superlead

Re: What's the ONE Marshall that Gives You the Most VIBE?

Tried an old Park 50 today, had some 6CA7's output tubes, we used an old Park cab with 30 watts Greenbacks.
That had so much vibe......well I can still hear that wooden roar.
:D

Re: What's the ONE Marshall that Gives You the Most VIBE?

The only company today actually making a Marshall to exact specs of the vintage Marshalls is Metroamp.com

check out these:

http://www.metroamp.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=56&products_id=364

the 12000 series plexi even has a switch that changes the voltage inside from 500v to 400v like a variac would!

I kitted out my Marshall 1959slp reissue with Metroamp parts (board, OT and other various component changes) and Sozo caps, and it absolutely kills! Instead of sounding like a copy of a vintage amp, it really is just like a vintage amp. I bet you could easily fool 'tone purists' with the amp's sound now into thinking it was a real vintage Marshall.

Re: What's the ONE Marshall that Gives You the Most VIBE?

I had to add to GEARJONESER's post

I love the Bogner XTC but I think it's a bitch to tweak and set. Not a Bitch like a Mesa Mark IV, but still it takes some work to get it right where you want it. Older Marshalls are soooo easy my grandma can do it!

Re: What's the ONE Marshall that Gives You the Most VIBE?

That Park is sweet!:smokin:

I absolutely lovvve the (plexi) Super PA.

The (plexi) Major and the JMP 50s are classics too.

Re: What's the ONE Marshall that Gives You the Most VIBE?

I'm a big fan of the silver jubilee 25/50... great, thick tone from the ones I've played.

That said, there's a reason I play Splawn. :)

It's not an amp that you can dial easily, when first trying it. Once you know what every switch specifically does to the sound, it's like Marshall modeling clay.
Another thing about the XTC is that 12 O'clock is neutral on all the knobs, just like a mixing board. It's easiest if you set every knob pointing up, then dial the switches, then come back and make final EQ and gain adjustments with the knobs. Ideally, most knobs stay somewhere between 11' Oclock and 2 O'clock.

I got that backwards. I was trying to remember the cutoff year in the 2205/2210's, where something changed to make them sound better.
Your heavily modded 2210 looks like a real powerhouse. I'm sure it sounds great. At this point it's kinda hard to call it a 2210, since it's been gutted and rebuilt. To bad economics has dictated that Marshall can't build amps exactly the way yours looks. THAT'S the way all Marshalls should look, in a perfect world.

I'm hoping it's gonna be my drummer's brother's '77 2204 that I am hotly pursuing currently. It WILL be mine, oh yes it WILL be mine! :firedevil
