Re: Whats the perfect gauge to tune to C?
I have a Schecter C-1 Hellraiser. I tune to drop C (low to high, CGCFAD) & use DR JH-10 strings (10-14-18-32-44-56), & they work perfectly for me. I used to use 10-52's, but the 52 6th was too floppy. I'm actually playing around with drop-B right now, & they're working fine.
Re half step/whole step, one half step equals one fret/one note. A whole step is two frets/two notes. So tuning a "half-step down" means tuning every string down by one fret/one note.
