What's the smallest amp that still sounds good?

Re: What's the smallest amp that still sounds good?

I kinda find that when the speaker goes below 10 inches the sound seems to invariably suffer . . . and even 10s seem to sound best when they're in pairs.

I don't need loads of headroom, just enough to play along with acoustic guitars and un-amplified vocals.

ROland micro cube. It can drown out an acoustic guitar easily with all of its 2 watts of AA powered glory.

+1, the effects on the micro cube is quite good.
just make sure to replace that strap with a guitar strap / straplok (i learned the hard way)

a well designed cab will sound excellent with a tiny little 4in driver as long as the interior is of a proper size for the speaker. That's how Phil Jones makes bass cabs with 5in speakers.

Well...a lot of speakers, but all of them are 5in neodymium.
