What's the top 3 Marshall, Mesa, and Fender Amps, in your opinion?

Re: What's the top 3 Marshall, Mesa, and Fender Amps, in your opinion?

I'm surprised no one's mentioned the DC-5 Dual Caliber yet. High gain mode sounds better than any Recto I've ever heard.

I owned a Mesa DC-5 head and a Single Rec head. Couldn't justify owning both, so I sold the DC-5. It was a tough choice, and that head rocked, but in the end I wanted something much more in-your-face. The Mesas were my only high-gain amps, so if I want to play something like Tool, the Single Rec is the way to go for me.

I kinda hear you.. I sold my peavey for the DC-5 and while it sounds really fat and super smooth, its not as in-your-face as I thought. I think I had it mistaken for being the same circuitry as the 50 cal+. With the SD1 in front it sounds great either way though, and its nice to have a real clean chan with separate EQ again.

About the thread-

Marshall- JCM 800, dunno which model as I havent played any yet (argg!!), an old Plexi, and the new JVM head.

Mesa- DC-5, Stiletto, and Mark4/IIC+ dunno which.

Fender- ummm just gimme an old one lol. Or gimme a Laney instead. I think I like that better!

Re: What's the top 3 Marshall, Mesa, and Fender Amps, in your opinion?

Holy crap what was I thinkin? Let's try this thing again.

Fender: Super Reverb, Vibrolux, Deluxe Reverb
Marshall: JTM45, JCM 800, Bluesbreaker
Mesa: Blue Angel, Maverick, Tremoverb

Ok, I think I rectified this situation (pun intended)

Anywayz, onto the topic at hand!!

Greatest Fenders: 1959 Fender Bassman, Fender Vibroverb, and Blackface Deluxe Reverb

Greatest Marshalls: JCM 800, Bluesbreaker, and the Jubilee

Greatest Mesa: Rect-o-verb, Maverick, F-50

These are my personal favs of these great amp makers!!

Re: What's the top 3 Marshall, Mesa, and Fender Amps, in your opinion?

Fender: Twin reverb, Bassman, Deluxe reverb

Marshall: bluesbreaker, jcm800, jcm900slx(yes I'm serious)

Mesa: Mark IV, Rectoverb, lonestar special

Unlike almost everyone in this thread the mesas are easily my favorites, followed by the fenders. Marshalls never sound like "me" I guess.
