What's with the logo?

Re: What's with the logo?

I love how the logo looks on the Black Winter and the Nazgul, Pegasus, and Sentient.

Re: What's with the logo?

I don't entirely understand.

If you like the pickup and are going to keep it, then do whatever you want to it. If you don't like the pickup, then sell it now.

Re: What's with the logo?

I personally prefer the logo. It shows others "what it is". Logo or not, you know what it is on the inside.

Re: What's with the logo?

And you can get the Old English logo, too. If you don't like it, wipe it off with Brasso, or order it without. If you buy a new pickup with it, decide if you like the pickup first, and then if you do, get rid of it. I don't think logo or not hurts the value- I'd argue that just as many Duncans for sale have the logo vs don't. People are ok if the one you have for sale doesn't have it. More important is the sticker on the bottom and the baseplate. That is really how we can tell if it is a modern Duncan or not (and what model it is).

Re: What's with the logo?

Remove it if you don't like it. Doesn't matter to me whether logos are on there or not.

I got two Custom Shop Quarter Pounds... I chose to have one without the logo, just because I didn't think white or silver would look that good on cream. I guess I could have maybe gotten it with a black logo if I wanted, though.

Re: What's with the logo?

I'm more concerned with sound than logos. My playing hand usually covers any logos while I'm playing anyway. The only time someone can notice the logo is if the guitar is on a stand and they are standing next to it. Which is less than 0.001% of the audience.

Re: What's with the logo?

I can't reconcile with the logo printed on Duncans nowadays. Am definitely thinking of just whiping the silly thing off. But am worried it will decrease in value if I try to resell it.
Man, you're really in deep with a life-changing conundrum... good luck with anything you decide to do. What ever that is, I promise that I'll support you. I have faith in you, so don't disappoint me. Make me proud!

am I just getting old?
I wouldn't put it that way... think "the older I get, the better I was".

I'm sure it'll make you feel a lot better with yourself.

Yours very truly,

/Peter

Re: What's with the logo?

Recent I put a 59/Custom on a guitar and thought the logo was bit big. It could have been smaller.
It is paired with a SH-1 which has no logo.

I also like the gothic logo on the BW.

Re: What's with the logo?

Someone saw the P-Rail on my SG and say "You are advertizing !"
But I don't care... And anyway it is also written Gibson on the headstock.

I love that look. May I ask why you went to the CS for this? The white bobbin? no logo? something else?

I went CS because normal QPs are flat black (matte look) without a plastic cover. I was informed the CS will now make a shiny black, cream or white top.

I wanted cream for the middle position and also have it overwound since I like my middle pickups lower, to not interfere with my picking. And the black one is slightly lower in output (calibrated and degaussed) to match it.

Here's the thread from last year when I got them. https://forum.seymourduncan.com/sho...y-Custom-Shop-Quarter-Pounds!&highlight=shiny

Jeeez you guys. It was a small pickup nerdy thought experiment. But I thought this was a pickup nerdy forum. You make it sound like it'd be life changing or something.
Was just wondering if you thought it'd change the price if I was gonna sell any of my Duncans. I have several, some are new and have the logo.
No big deal, nothing to lose sleep over. Sorry. Chill y'all :)

Re: What's with the logo?

Agree with OP! Sometimes i can't resist the urge to wipe them off with acetone.

I like the APH-1 coz it comes non-logo as stock, but I'm not planning on flipping it any time soon.

Re: What's with the logo?

I've tried wiping the logo with acetone, and it just leaves the pickup looking like ****.

Re: What's with the logo?

I highly doubt it will change the resale value at all. After all, it'll still sell for what someone is willing to pay for it.
