Re: What's with the Love or Hate thing in regards to PRS Guitars?.....
PRS' are great pro guitars. They look nice and have great sounds. But they are like telecasters you have to put in to get out. They sound best going straight into an amp and not through a lot of effects. Ironically Paul tried to sell his design to Yamaha in '83 but they didn't give him the deal and now PRS occupies the space that Yamaha used to and still do in most other instruments.
Two of the biggest magazines in the world, Guitar World and Guitarist have and have had for years a 'everything post 1970 is rubbish' stance and always female canine about PRS (Guitarist suspend this rule for Parker who used to write for them).
As for price over the last ten years in the UK the Fender American Standard Strat has fallen in price, the PRS Custom 24 has risen with inflation and the Les Paul Standard has tripled in price.
