To me, a pickup or speaker that has a warm tone has no trace of shrillness or ice picky treble. For example, I wouldn't call a 59B warm...but I would a Seth Lover and a Custom Custom. The 59B is one of my favorite pickups, but a guy could set the EQ on his amp to make it sound to bright and harsh...it'd be much harder to do that with a Seth Lover or Custom Custom. Lew

The Allman Brothers: Blue Sky!!!! Very warm. Basically original Gibson PAF's it don't get any warmer than that!!!

Definatly a nice little bit of overdrive on a neck pup like the '59 or PG into something with higher (not boomy) lows, mids on about 5 or 6 and treble down to 3 or 2.

I think of "Liz Reed" from the Fillmore East - the rhythm guitar during the intro. I'm not sure I can put that into words.

Kyuss. a warm fuzzy blanket. They were the kings of warm tone IMO.
