What's your dream rig ?

Re: What's your dream rig ?

I would run an Explorer guitar with Duncan Blackouts into 2 different amps, controlled by an AB switcher. There would be a wah in front of the switcher, and a volume pedal.

One path would have a chorus, flanger, and delay pedalboard. That path would run into a Twin Reverb.

The other would have a Mesa Boogie Mark V, running on a lower wattage setting.

That would be killer. I'd get sweet cleans and then an epic amp for anything from crunch to heavy distortion. Its just really complex and really expensive. Maybe one day...

Re: What's your dream rig ?

OH! Yeah. Betsy... she is in the back. Her and I have been taking a break lately so I could bond with blonde Vera. I have always been in love with both Teles and Jazzmasters. It is hard to decide which one would be my "dream rig guitar" and Vera was already in the pictures, so that is the reasoning behind that.

Re: What's your dream rig ?

I have my dream rig.

I ahve my Bogner Shiva, my Komet and a variety of Guitars and pedals to use. Not really a big pedal guy, but I do use a TS9 and a TS808 in my amps. As far as guitars, I have Teles, Strats, Les Pauls, SG, 335's. I am very happy with my gear.

Re: What's your dream rig ?

my 5 guitars (already have)
-Les Paul esque
-Tele
-Solidbody Jazz guitar
-Pointy shredder
-Taylor 814 prototype
and and AB box going between a Frenchman 36 watter and 50 watt blackface head with 212

Re: What's your dream rig ?

I pretty much have it, but I'll always be wanting more stuff, and I'll always be buying more stuff. That's just the way I am.

Re: What's your dream rig ?

I think I'm pretty close to living the dream.

Celtic Edana
Blackface Bassman
Vox AC30CCH
JCM-800 2204 model
Cherry Cab with Mojotone G12H30 clones
Port City Cab with Mojotone Vintage 30 clones
Yamaha Weddington Classic
Hamer Daytona USA
Fender Mexi Musician's Friend Strat
Kramer Focus 1000 with OFR
A LARGE assortment of pedals including two different stereo chorus and delay pedals. One set is analog and the other is very high quality digital.

My man-cave needs only a few more additions to make things "perfect".
I want two more Port City 2x12 cabs (one for the Bassman and one for the Vox)
I want a really good ABY pedal.
I want a hollowbody guitar with a humbucker bridge and a P90 neck pickup
I want a POG-2 pedal or something similar.
I want a Big Muff Fuzz pedal.
I'd also like a KOT fuzz pedal as well.

Oh yeah... I'd also like the talent to deserve all the great gear I own. I'd play more, but it seems like my hearing has really taken a hit lately with the addition of the 2204. I'm gonna have to get some custom earplugs or something to make sure I protect something I treasure this much. Else owning all this will really be nothing more than a waste.

One thing I've noticed here lately is that my impression of the Blackface bassman has been overly harsh regarding the Bass channel. That channel sounds pretty darned good now. I used to think it was harsh and ratty, but it's not bad at all really. It's wonderful with my Yamaha Weddington. It really rocks hard with that guitar plugged into it. Noone would ever believe it was a Fender listening to it.

Considering geetars, I guess I have everything I've ever needed to make noise the way I like :)

Re: What's your dream rig ?

My dream rig for now would be an Orange Rockerverb 50 mkII running side by side with my old fender concert amp with an mxr 117r flanger a tuner and my '91 American Standard Strat, Les paul traditional, and an ES 335.

Re: What's your dream rig ?

Im close to my dream rig

Amp: 65 Twin Reverb or a Vibroking
Guitar: 62 Fender strat (rosewood fret) Gibson J-45, Gibson 61 sg
Pedals: Zvex HP BOR, Frantone Peachfuzz, Teese RMC1 Wah, Mi audio boost n buff, Nova Delay, Jack Deville Mod zero, Line 6 FM4, Nova Mod, Boss Tu2, EB volume

That would do me just fine.

Re: What's your dream rig ?

There's a lot of gear I'd like, and I don't think one guitar and one amp could do it for me. But if I had to say, pick 2 guitars and 2 amps, I'd probably go for

A Custom Shop tele. Think Keef's Micawber done in Burgundy Mist. Naturally, this will be plugged into a high-power tweed twin clone of some sort. I could make this my only gear if I had a few good pedals.

2nd rig would be something like a Gibson R8 plain top in heritage cherry burst, into a hughes and kettner triamp. I haven't played a triamp yet but everything I've gathered about it makes it seem totally friggin sweet.

Re: What's your dream rig ?

I use channel 2 on fat/100w/tube rectifier for cleans and channel 1 on tweed/50w/tube rectifier for crunch.

Thanks. I'll give that a shot and see if it works out for me. :) Last time I tried clean and fat though I didn't like them and kept going back to tweed for clean. Will give it another go though....

Re: What's your dream rig ?

It just occurred to me that my first post was incomplete.

I'm more than thankful for what I have (Mesa Roadster with Mesa Horiz 2x12 Cab, MIA Srat, and Gibson 58 LP RI) but wouldn't mind having a Mesa Roadking II in place of the Roadster for the "Progressive Linkage".

Dream stuff I'd have if I could afford it....

Gibson Custom Shop 56 LP RI (for those who aren't familar it's loaded with soapbar P90s)
PRS Hollowbody II
Taylor Acoustic
Mesa Trem-O-Verb Head
Mills Acoustics 2x12 Cab (x2)
Mesa Vertical 2x12 Cab(to run with the Horiz I already have).

I think that would about do it...... lol

Re: What's your dream rig ?

I'm over halfway there with my dream rig but this is what it'd be:

My Splawn Quick Rod into a 4x12 with 2x V30s and 2x G12Hs
My Carlsbro 50-Top into a 4x12 with Greenbacks (the nicest clean amp I've ever used, takes pedals very well)
Orange AD30 (or similar) into Orange 4x12 for the inbetween clean and dirty crunch tones. I had 1 and sold it for my Splawn as I wasn't using it much at the time :(
Vox AC30 to smooth out the clean sounds.

I'm ok guitarwise, there's always stuff I want but nothing more I 'need', and the same with pedals. I wouldn't need anything more than my HBE Power Screamer infront of the Carlsbro and Vox for low level OD tones and a Treble Booster infront of the Orange.

i'd love a princeton, drri, or bassman.

Re: What's your dream rig ?

I probably should have added in my original post that I'm really close to my ideal rig.

I'm playing a Gibson ES-137 Custom and a Gibson ES-135 through a 1970 Super Reverb (blackface specs) with a tuner in between. I just can't afford a Gibson L5 right now :)

Re: What's your dream rig ?

Probably a Les Paul and a Marshall.

I don't know, I've never spent much time with either.

Re: What's your dream rig ?

I'm covered in the 6 string area (recently built Warmoth '58 Strat replica). From there it would be a Dr. Z Maz 18 NR head to a Dr. Z Z-Best cab. On the floor would be a Sweet Sound Ultra Vibe, Analog Man Beano Boost, Analog Man Chorus, and an Empress Vintage Modified Superdelay, in addition to my CAE wah pedal

Re: What's your dream rig ?

My dream rig is pretty much the rig I run now, except a Soldano SLO100 in place of the Jet City JCA100H and throw a Way Huge Swollen Pickle and a good tremolo pedal on to my pedal board. My current rig is in my signature. My pedal signal chain is as follows...

guitars->Dunlop 535Q wah->Boss TU-2 tuner->Voodoo Lab Microvibe->Fulltone OCD V.4 overdrive->MXR Phase 90->Voodoo Lab Analog Chorus->MXR Cabon Copy analog delay->amp
