What's your favorite 212?

if we are talking cabs my Marshall modded MX212 is the best 2x12 I have played. I put the a Marshall stereo jack in it and two Eminence wheelhouse speakers. It is now 300w and the hemp cones are very warm. I use it for my JC120. JCM2000 and sometimes sit the AC30 on it. It is my go to cab for the studio.

Huh. I always figured the speakers in JC120s were a huge part of the sound. Does the different cab change the tone a lot?

The amp sounds great on its own that is why bought it. When I got it to the studio and put it on top of my Ampeg 4x12 with the G12Hs it had this incredible thump and snap, almost percussive. For that reason when I got the second JC120, I got the head. Through the JCM900 4x12 cab it sounds amazing. Like I said through the 2x12 it is unreal. I love that head through a closed back cab. If I got another JC120 combo I would consider converting it to a closed back amp.

The best 2x12 I ever used was an Avatar G212 Vintage loaded with Celestion Classic Lead 80 speakers. Not too heavy to lug around, semi-open back, sounded great with the Marshall head I had at the time.

a modeller setup with in ear monitors.
For the ultimate in Lame and Lazy.
Silent stage is a joke unless your in a concert with 180 degree coverage pa. Imo
The few local bands I've seen sound like a dj.
Either way my rules are no amp and/or no soundman out front,no me on stage.

Why would you put the soundman out front?

Owned a bunch of different 2/12 cabs over the years, but my PRS 2/12 Deep cab is special. For a 2/12 it's fairly compact and light but will spank a lot of 4/12 cabs I have owned. It's just a monster, but they are hard to find. One of these but this price is nuts! Absolutely wicket cabs though!!

Mine under my first gen Archon head live.

I have had great results from Bogner 2x12 cabs, both the V30/V30 and the V30/Creamback - I hear little difference between them and my Mesa 4x12s for the higher gain things.

I need to stop reading this thread. Y’all are making me want to buy a new cabinet when I already have a 2x12, and realistically, the only tone improvement I need is better technique.
