I've never played one and I'm not really familiar with the hardware they're using, so I'll leave it to someone else. I've been pretty impressed with Washburn's stuff recently, though.

What kind of tones are you going for?

Well I am ino Nuno Bettencourt/Extreme/Dramagods, Jimmy Page Trevor Rabin and Evh
so in other words high pinched harmonics and also a good vintage PAF sound.

I played one back in the early nineties, not too long after they came out.
I didn't plug it in, so I can't tell you about the sound. I do remember this: as far as playability is concerned, I liked it just as much as any other shred guitar that I played (that's what I was into at the time, and I still like them for the most part), and it sounded pretty good acoustically. If I had the money, I would have bought it the day I played it. The bar was not on it in the store, so I don't know how well it stayed in tune.

If you can, go play one and see what you think. Besides, the electronics can always be changed if they don't sound good.

They're really good guitars for the money. Nice and light, and the neck feel is great for fast playing. I would update the pickups and electronics, but otherwise, very solid guitars for not a lot of money.

but don't change the bridge pickup.

Rounder fatter neck than most Ibanez shred style guitars. I had both an N2 and an Ibanez S in my younger days. I still have the N2, but haven't used it for years.

I loved the way it felt and played. The one I played had EMG 85's put in it.
I almost bought it but it was few hundred more than I was going to spend. I wanted something cheap to change around with pup's, pots, etc. Other than that I would have bough it.

Do they use the Bill Lawrence in the N2, like they put in the N4?

I'd never rip the pickups out of a guitar just because they are stock. There's got to be something wrong with them in the first place. Now, pots, caps & wiring is a different story, especially on lower priced imports.

Re: Whats your opinion on the Nuno Bettencourt Washburn N2

PLayed a few models of it, cheap and the N2. The N2 is by far the absolute best guitar for that style. The combo of the wood, neck, and pickups is just such a cool sound, think Nuno of Pornograffiti. That super harmonic rich mid growl with a massive bottom umph. The floyd I can't comment on because I never used it as I hate the dang things, so I left if alone. The neck is to me, kinda similar to some schecter model necks. Def don't change the pickups if you can help it, they complete that guitar.

Re: Whats your opinion on the Nuno Bettencourt Washburn N2

Nope. The Wolfgang is an assymetrical profile, and the N2 is a little thicker shred type neck.

Re: Whats your opinion on the Nuno Bettencourt Washburn N2

Re pickups on the N2, you could do what was done on the one I have - just replace the neck pup with a 59. Leave the bridge Bill Lawrence...

Re: Whats your opinion on the Nuno Bettencourt Washburn N2

Anyone know where I can find a left handed N2 washburn (please help)?

It totally sucks being left handed cause you can't find any good guitars in left handed models.

I used this guitar for about 3 weeks. It sounded great, however I hated the neck, which felt way too fat and wide for me and the neck joint which felt wierd. Shouldnt be a problem for you since most people love fat necks.
