What's your wingspan on the fretboard??

I seem to be cursed with thin yet short fingers...Beginning at the 1st string using my first and forth fingers, i can only reach the 5th fret with comfort, 6th if i stretch.. :smack: ..It's kind of a drag having such small hands, but i suppose it's not vital to have longer fingers....

so, how about you?

Re: What's your wingspan on the fretboard??

I can reach the 8th if I push it, the 6th w/ comfort.

Re: What's your wingspan on the fretboard??

6th with comfort, 7 pushing it.

Re: What's your wingspan on the fretboard??

i got short, stubby fingers, so i cant reach that far. but from the 12th fret i can reach the 22th though!! :D

Re: What's your wingspan on the fretboard??

I am also cursed with thin/short fingers, and I think 5th fret might stretching it for me. 6th fret is for sure stretching it.

Looks like we got a lot of Paul Gilberts on this forum! :13:

Re: What's your wingspan on the fretboard??

I can reach the 6th fret comfortably and the 7th is a major stretch that I could never do anything with.

Re: What's your wingspan on the fretboard??

Is it me, or do some of the shred guys have humongous hands!!??

As someone's already mention, Paul Gilbert, he's orangutan hands, and Steve Vai also.

I suddenly feel quite small and insignificant. Size doesn't matter hey? You usually hear that from guys who don't have it!!

Re: What's your wingspan on the fretboard??

7th, but 6th comfortably :)

lol...yeah, gilbert does have some giant mitts...it does get a bit discouraging, but i've got friends that have such long fingers that they hinder their play when it comes to fingerpicking etc....

but you know, gary moore's got some stubby fingers and guys like randy rhodes had to have small meat beaters because he was such tiny little thing...

I've only measured mine from the 12th fret.... index on 12, I can hammer onto 20 with the pinky. I can make 21, but not easily enough to play that way.

Really, from 12th I can reach 21 with comfort, 22 stretchin it a tad.

I didn't know this was a contest

I believe if buckethead was on this server, we all would "lose".

Re: What's your wingspan on the fretboard??

hehe, me neither bones. lol

anyway, my ec isnt that short.....

Re: What's your wingspan on the fretboard??

Index on first I can reach the 5th.

If I need to go any further, that's why I have other strings.

Re: What's your wingspan on the fretboard??

geez i may have some of the smallest on here. i have extremely short fingers, i can only reach to the 4th from the first. i can reach the 5th if i streach it a lot. I may have short fingers but i can play better than many of my freidns with much longer fingers. BTW that was on my acoustic, my electric is downstairs and im lazy.

It's still the exact same with me on a 24.75" scale Les Paul or my 25.5" scale Schecter S-1 Elite.

Re: What's your wingspan on the fretboard??

5-6, i have small hands (my longest finger is only about 2.5 inches)
but i like intricate stuff, so you see me flying up and down the board alot haha :)

Re: What's your wingspan on the fretboard??

Well, I'm predominantly a rhythm/riff guy so I don't need the expanded stretch that often...

Re: What's your wingspan on the fretboard??

Giant hands?

Stevie Ray Vaughan had some massive hands.

I can do 5 in a snap, 6 is ok, a bit of a stretch, 7 is a big stretch.
