when did fender stop the swimming pool?

Re: when did fender stop the swimming pool?

I don't hear people complaining about the routing on their Tylers :cool2:.

Some dumbass somewhere is typing away on a forum right now saying that the ONLY reason he won't buy a Tyler is because it's a modified swimming pool route.

Re: when did fender stop the swimming pool?

The best sounding strat I have played is my '89 plus deluxe, and it has all the "wrong" things going for it.

Poly finish, swimming pool route, and LSR nut.

Go figure...

Well, the operative word is 'dumbass', after all :).

Re: when did fender stop the swimming pool?

I have a swimming pool plus route in a Blazer. Full pickup route but can be pulled out sideways without relaxing the strings.

It's fine but I did that before I recorded things so I can't really say how the sound changed.

We need a first penguin.

Re: when did fender stop the swimming pool?

In my 84' S-S-S route, I sanded just the paint off the neck route. Now what ever PuP I put there... When I switch to the neck position on that guitar, I sound just like Jimi, SRV, Clapton, Duane and even EVH !!:naughty::eyecrazy:

Re: when did fender stop the swimming pool?

No, you're not. I can't either. Most of the voodoo stuff out there that folks say they can hear the differences in is because the want to hear those differences so their mind tricks the ears to thinking it hears something that's not even there.

The problem with swimming pool routs is, when you want to put high output pickups in. The swimming pool route will get microphonic, where the three slots wont...

That's not because of the route, that's because the pickup has become microphonic. I've had several Strats with the pool route, playing high gain, and never had that issue with them, ever. It's not like a hollowbody with unpotted pickups.

Re: when did fender stop the swimming pool?

When? Like 2000. Why? Not the slightest clue. I liked them. Lightet bodies, easier to manufacture, only have to cut into the pickguard when getting funky with pickup shapes and sizes.

So you joined up simply to answer a 5-year dead thread???

Re: when did fender stop the swimming pool?

I have 3 Squier Strats routed Hum/sing/hum that I use as loners during guitar classes. They all 3 have a strong mid content to the acoustic tone that the other single coil routed squier strats do not have. I wonder what type of acoustic variations the lack, or presence, of wood there makes?
