When did Seymour start Antiquity line?

Anyone know when Seymour started making the Antiquity Humbuckers?

The chronological History overview on the Corporate Duncan site doesn't mention the Antiquity line release date...
I got a set of Antiquity humbuckers in a recent guitar deal - they are signed by Seymour and dated 12-7-2001.
I'm just trying to figure out how they stack up historically with release date for the line - and if these might be among the first he'd made.

The Seller told me these were made back before the Custom Shop existed & Seymour was still winding a lot.

Thanks in advance for any help...

Re: When did Seymour start Antiquity line?

It was January of '94, if my memory serves. I lead the product development effort on that project, which was previously code-named "The Big A." We sped up the launch to coincide with the publication of an article about vintage replacement pickups by Andy Ellis from Guitar Player, called "52 Pickup Shootout."

I still have a copy of that edition of GP stashed away somewhere. To the best of my recollection, at no point did any of the participating pickup designer/builders or testers resort to using the the word "suck".

Actually, that article was key to the initial success of the Antiquity line. I believe the Ant humbucker topped their list of PAF-clones. And I believe it was also one of, if not the first cosmetically and sonically aged pickup--this was before Fender's relic process. Not only did that article push the Antiquity line into the limelight and into a six month backorder situation, but it created a cottage industry of uber-vintage correct, boutique pickup makers.

If anyone has their old GPs, I think it was the April 1994 issue.
