I want to get an idea of what you guys use. Please post in poll.

This is a multiple option poll for a reason. Choose ONLY ONE amp & cab size, even if you have multiple, choose ONLY ONE wattage, options 8 & 9. Otherwise this thread will be filled with useless information and well....useless. Two part poll, this way each person gets to choose one amp type and one wattage. Only two votes per person. Okay, got it? good.

2x12 100 watt combo... Line 6 Flextone II XL.

I want to move to a tube head + 2x12 cab one day though..

Re: When gigging or playing live, which size amp & cabinet do you use?

I have used my marshall MG50RCD 50 watter mic'd up. Most gigs though all bands use the same amps

Re: When gigging or playing live, which size amp & cabinet do you use?

see I usually use a 1x12 50 watter. I find a 4x12 to be too heavy and bulky and 100 watts way too loud. I think a 50 watt head and 2x12 would be acceptable though.

Re: When gigging or playing live, which size amp & cabinet do you use?

The JCF had one of these that went on forever. The size of the amps those guys use was tremendous. Nobody used less than a halfstack, and some guys even said they wouldn't play without two fullstacks on stage. :saeek:

I use a 50w Rectoverb & 2x12" Avatar cab. Just the right amount of volume for your average small club type gig, and if you have a bigger venue you can just mic it up.

40w 1x12 combo Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. I mic it up or borrow an extension cab when I need to at gigs.

Re: When gigging or playing live, which size amp & cabinet do you use?

i acutally use a 40 watt head and 1 15 inch speaker, closest thing was 2 12's. HUGE tone, nice compression of highs when the speakers are cranked, fills any space amazingly.

2 separate cabs-one open one closed. I plan on reconing my other JBL d130f and putting it in an EV tuned/ported bass cabinet from the 80's. So that's a BF 40 watt fender head through 2 JBL 15 inch speakers.

Re: When gigging or playing live, which size amp & cabinet do you use?

I have various Marshall and Peavey heads i play thru a Marshall 1912 1x12 cab or i now also have a Peavey 1x12 Classic cab as well. I have 50 watter heads mostly and the 5150 which is 120 watts. If i know i'm playing a loud gig i play the same heads thru a 4x12.... I also own various lower wattage combos for small gigs... A Fender all original 65 Deluxe and Peavey Classic 30 among others....

No voting choice fits me.

I play through a POD xt Live direct to the mixer.

4x12 w/200w stereo tube.

I'm currently saving up to complete the main rig, which'll be two 3/4 stacks (two 4x12 & two 2x12 cabs). Mostly, I just want flexibility when choosing cabnets with that setup.

My other setup is a 1x15 75w SS combo. It's good for smaller stuff like jams and such. I plan on replacing it with a 1x12 Mesa MkIIB that they're selling downtown.

Re: When gigging or playing live, which size amp & cabinet do you use?

I ticked head + 2x12, around 50 watts, because that's what I was using in my last band (Marshall 2553 Jubilee head + 2556B 2x12 cab). For the new band that's currently rehearsing I'm using a 60 watt 1x12 Tech 21 TM60, but I've yet to gig with that.

Re: When gigging or playing live, which size amp & cabinet do you use?

Bogner Shiva head - EL34 40 watts.
Marshall 1936 2x12 cab - G12T75 and CL80 Celestions.

Re: When gigging or playing live, which size amp & cabinet do you use?

Two Rock Emerald or Rivera Rake into one of my three 2x12s.

Re: When gigging or playing live, which size amp & cabinet do you use?

My gear changes form gig to gig... it also depends on where we play and also depends on my mood... for example the last gig we did coz my car got crash i didn´t have any transportation at all, well except for public but here in my country is quite hard to move with a head and 4x12 cab... so i use my combo 2x12... for my next gig which is next saturday i´ll be using my smarvo headamp all tubes with its cab 4x12 and if i´m lucky and if GOD loves me (cross fingers) my nee GT8, it will be amazing !!!

I have bad stage issues, so I am almost entirely a studio guy. Having said that, the rare time or two that I brought my own amp to a club I used a Victoria Deluxe 20 Watts. Maybe I play really really tiny clubs ?

Re: When gigging or playing live, which size amp & cabinet do you use?

well i haven't played live in quite a while but last time i did i used my 4x12 half stack since that's all i have (that's big enough for live use that is) and all i like to play through!
