When It comes to tone-- one thing matters!

Rev Donzo

Mad Tone Scientist
Does it work for you?

all the over engineering , online smear campaining, badmouthing, white lies, bad products...etc..

don't mean a freakin' thing!

all that matters is does those dang ol' pickups provide you with everything you need or do they not?

because they're aint no words or "white wash" or engineering arguments that will ever change that simple fact of life in this bussiness..

many in 6 years that I have been in this bizz--- have pulled every dirty trick in the book on us players and on other manafactures to try to cover truths..

Public notice is they can all KISS my Rear end!
there all more full of crap then a Christmas Turkey!

Re: When It comes to tone-- one thing matters!

I thought that it was pretty clear, when it comes to tone, the only thing that matters is if it works for you, not high prices or whatever else used to advertise pickups. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: When It comes to tone-- one thing matters!

No corrections to be made, just that the post is an obvious generalization that seems to be leading up to something more specific that never comes. Almost like starting a thread with a post that says "Pickups are cool if you want to have an electric guitar that sounds good."

Hey, ya know we've all had our fair share of bad threads. Donzo may not be the most articulate person on the forum, but he knows more about pickups and the pickup business than the rest of us put together! If you don't like his threads, don't bother to read them.

When it comes to tone what works for me matters. I think all the good Reverend wants is an Amen. We could all agree to that, right? Can I hear you say Amen?

I'm with him but I have to wonder if he was trying to get somewhere else.

Re: When It comes to tone-- one thing matters!

Exactly -- is he trying to bash all pickup makers, Seymour included? Did he have a bad experience he wants to relate? What? Yes, amen, we all want good tone, but drop the other shoe already.

we have a winner!

alot of behind the sceen's Bull-s-hit is always in play in this bizz... actors--fakes--shills-- character writes-- all with one common goal-- support of there team--

If you can wade passed them and listen to you gut and use your own ears you'll win at this pup game--

if you fall victum to the above, you may never actually ever have a unlimited expressive tool in your arsenal.. your tool's will always limit your pure inner expressivness and your true tone and style and fullfilment of music may never peak..

Mine has--
and after spending thousands on pups alone ( For Me) "not for everyone"

give me my Syemour Duncan Broadcaster and 5-2 Nashville neck in my friggin el' cheapo Squire Affinity Tele and all chains that bind me are realeased and I hit the ZONE BABY!

Give me the best: Hamels, Stuarts, Lolars, Duff's, Fralins, fender Custom Shop, Van Zants, John Reynolds, Bardens,..etc..

and my sh-it's in the dog house with that so called Booteak or great-best-better-top of the line..etc... An with that stuff suddenly Im:-- ruined-- hindered-- held back-- represed-- squashed ..etc..

so when all the engineers are done butting heads and all the shills and obnoxious fans of there brands are all done sending you in the wrong directions-- then you may find your real tone thats attached to your soul..

so what I'm saying is ask -- but becarefull of the info you recive in this pup world.. because its full of wrong paths..

because to each his own-- what works for one of us -- is never whats best for all of us-- seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee what I mean bros?
Does that mean lies by white people?
usally it does as a matter of fact! LOL!

I've never gotten the impression that Rev Cannon or Buck Donzo (Lol) has anything less than the utmost respect for Seymour Duncan. I certainly wouldn't want to speak for him though.

Re: When It comes to tone-- one thing matters!

Perfect post Reverend.. Preach the truth :headbang::beerchug:

Re: When It comes to tone-- one thing matters!

And then sometimes an really old blues guy with a cheap $99.00 guitar will be playing at his peak and sounding so unbealivibly good, that ya just have to slap youself for ever being a pickup geek in the first place and thinking otherwise! LOL!

Re: When It comes to tone-- one thing matters!

yep-... with huge callouses on his fingers and the edge of his hand, rusty strings, and action you could fly a plane under, so you´ll wish you´d never ever set your axe up but had just friggin played

6 years in the Biz when you are 48 makes you a rookie....

Why does his age matter? Would I be a rookie if I had 6 years in the biz?
