ive also run arcoss this same thing. ive got 2 AM strats, one sounds great, the others a doorstop, same pickups....
secondly ive got an MIM strat, i'm due for a pics thread, but i put a new neck on it, and it went from stock MIM strat to a real singing beast, it made a HUGE tone difference.
i think if you want to keep trying, a new body would be in order. although selling is also an option.
my #2 strat looks cool, so its just hanging on the wall, and i'm fine with that, although my brother thinks i should sell
