When using a modeler with a power amp...

I'm going to be running my GT6 into a tube power amp. How should I set the volume controls on each - Should I keep the GT6 low and the power amp high, or the other way around? Thanks!

Usually theres an output point on the modeller where it starts clipping - I set mine just below this.

When I use my VG-88 as a preamp, I prefer to have the amp running pretty hot. You have to make sure you're using the LINE LEVEL out of your preamp and the LINE LEVEL input on your power amp. If the output is too hot, it will clip the amp, as DSS says. It may also sound too harsh if it's too loud, even before clipping occurs.

I have to revise mine a bit - that's with an SS poweramp. With a tube poweramp, I like the rubes running hot, just like Ben.

Indeed, the GT's can be a bit sensitive to clipping when the line output level is set too high. Mostly though, this is due to an ampsim level that's set too high, or an overdrive or distortion set too loud and driving the preamp or another component to the point of clipping. Still, I never set the output level of my GT-8 higher than 3/4, just in case :)
