When you came here...

Re: When you came here...

I came here looking for a schematic on how to hotrod a one pickup Strat w/ a five way switch.

Looking at the gear I have, I don't think I've bought anything that was influenced by this forum. Most people on here seem to have a different tone in mind than mine, so I guess that's to be expected.

Re: When you came here...

I've got a TON of stuff from the trading post!
2 chorus pedals
1 BOSS DS-1
1 BOSS HM-3
1 BOSS RV-3
DOD Envelope Filter
danelectro distortion
phase 90
daneletro flanger
other pedals I can't even remember
several pick-ups, including JB Trembucker :)
and a few gutiars :smoker:

I originally came here because I was a seymour duncan user and it said seymour duncan user forum.... So I knew I belonged here, and still do!

Rock ON!

Re: When you came here...

i first came here asking about the JB, cause at the time i was obsessed with getting the megadeth tone from rude awakening (which i still kinda am :laugh2: ). since i came here, ive gotten my XXX, spider 2, viper, bass, explorer, 12string, phase 90, rotovibe, DD, '59, invader, and most recently, JB.

Re: When you came here...

i just signed up yesterday... i came here because i wanna learn more about pickups and because i wanted some good info on the dimebucker cause my birthday is next sunday and i plan on getting some new pickups soon

Re: When you came here...

I came here to figure out how to make an HSS strat's humbucker split, when the 5 way was in the 2nd position. 6800 posts later (minus lost posts), I still don't know how to do it! doh!

Gas-wise.....I developed a love of Teles, Fuzz pedals, Vox Valvetronix, and Seth Lovers and Antiquity Surfers. I also wanted to hear others opinions on the new Custom 5, which I had just begun using.

I probably fed other people's GAS to the point of an Exxon Valdese explosion! haha

Re: When you came here...

I got a Peavey Predator Plus EXP. I think that's it. I'm finally making good money now mowing grass and tutoring math.

Re: When you came here...

I came here because I wanted new pickup's for my Les Paul, and after a while reading and asking I bought a set of Antiquity's.

I got me a new Mesa Lonestar Special after I came here, but not because of this forum, though. Oh, and a Tonebone Hot British, a Tonebone Classic and a MXR ZW-44 as well.

Re: When you came here...

I came here thinking I was going to buy a fat strat. Then the forum steered me to go with the standard strat. I am glad that I listened to and had the opportunity to be influenced and advised by the many great forum contributors.

I used to think that real guitars had humbuckers. Now I know that a real guitar can have 3 single coils.

Re: When you came here...

Everything in my signature has been purchased since I've been active on the forum. I can't even begin to say how much I've learned since I've been here. With very few exceptions, everyone has been great here, which is why I stay.

Very cool people whether we talk guitars or not. Can't beat that!

Ok...this should be fun! This forum is a great place to be and you guys (and girls) are all my friends, but this place is pretty damn bad for GAS!!!

What all kind of gear have you gathered up since comming to the SD Forum? Also, what was your original reason for comming here?

Let's see what happens to people after becoming regulars at the Duncan Forum!

I came here years ago on the old board (two boards ago) to learn about pickups. I was one of the guys who made his own C5, then referred to as the CCC by swapping out magnets from a JB into a Custom, and pushed to make it a regualr production model. Since then, I've gone through more gear than underwear (you can see some of it in my sig link).

We should push for a Jazz trembucker. It wouldn't be hard. It's the best compliment to single coils but doesn't come in a TB version. But by the way those are some gorgeous Les Pauls you've had/have.

Re: When you came here...

Strangely, I have dramatically decreased my gear since arriving. In a long story that you really don't want me to share, a time in my life pushed me to 8 Les Pauls - way beyond anything I could afford at the time - and I wanted to mod them to make them all different with pups. I had also acquired many quality amps, collectable stuff, and general loot. Later, I confessed my sins, and sold some truely awesome gear to pay some bills. Now I have paid down the depts with the the sales, and a second job, and frankly, I wish I had just stayed in dept in the first place.

Re: When you came here...

I came here because I was looking for tone and I had heard of Seymour Duncan pickups. It didn't take too long before I realized just how many cool gear obsessed people were on a pickup forum and well, that's why I've been around here for so long :D

Came here with an Epiphone Les Paul, Fender MIM Strat and Fender SF Vibrolux.

Since then:
Bought a TS-7 (808 modded), a pair of Seymour Duncan Antiquities and a Gibson Les Paul Standard to put them in ;), Dimarzio Virtual PAFs, Dean Chafin Del Sol, G&L Skyhawk, WCR Darkburst and SR pickups, EMG 81/85 set, EMG DG-20 set, Dimarzio Virtual Vintage, Dimarzio Classic PAF, Dunlop Crybaby From Hell, MXR Phase 90, MXR Double Shot, Boss NS-2, Boss TU-2, Gibson '60 RI Les Paul Special DC, Ovation 1771LX, Don Grosh Bent Top Custom, Pro Analog Dual Drive, Pro Analog Supaquack, Peterson Strobostomp, Clay Jones OD, Genesis Mr. Browney, MJM Blues Devil, Hughes & Kettner Triamp, Bad Cat Hot Cat 30, Fargen Epic 30 DC..... daaaaaaammmnnnnnnn.....
