Where can I buy UOA5 pre-charged magnet try in set of 59's?

Greetings everyone,

I'm new hear but have been through a few Seymour Duncan pickups and generally like to tinker so thought I would join.

I'm wondering about where I can get a set of UOA5 magnets pre-charged to swap out in my '59 set? Are there any specific specs I should be aware of when buying them?

Yes, the majority of magnets from AddictionFX are already precharged. The only thing you need to be aware of is lining up the polarity correctly before putting in the new magnet.

Thank you for that tip. I have yet to watch any tutorials so if anyone has a favorite I would appreciate it.
Do any of you ever melt and then rewax pot more lightly your pickups?

I only repot if I get microphonics. The majority of time you will not need to repot after swapping magnets.

Thank you idsnowdog,
I was also reading about different lengths on that website. Does the length matter in terms of fitting into the 59's or affecting tone? 2.29, 2.36, 2.444, 2.50, 2.75

I got a UOA5 for my Jazz from AddictionFX. It's the Unoriented 2.50 X .125 X .50 one. You just need to choose between roughcast or smooth etc..
I went with roughcast UOA5.

This should help.

Oriented - Almost always for A5, and (seems to be) always for A8. The 'grain' in the metal is aligned in one direction when the mag is formed, which makes for a stronger magnet.

Unoriented - Typically for A2, A3, and A4, and rarely A5. The 'grain' in the metal is random which gives a warmer, richer tone. More dynamics in a guitar PU.

Polished - Ground smooth and shiny. Almost all guitar bar magnets are polished. Gives a more uniformly-defined magnetic field, and a slightly sharper tone.

Unpolished - A4's and A8's are sometimes available unpolished, which means partially ground, but still has rough grinder marks. Tone-wise closer to a polished, but maybe a little more complex.

Roughcast - A2, A3, A4, and A5 are sometimes available as roughcast. Lumpy, bumpy, and still has sand indentations. Magnetic field isn't as uniform, and that makes guitar tones more complex and smoother on the high-end.

So, a polished A5 is bright and scooped; a RC A5 is smoother on top with a bit less treble, and an UOA5 is much warmer and fuller, closer to an A2.

A2, A3, and A4 are always unoriented; choose between polished, unpolished, or roughcast, depending on your desired tone.

With A8's you get polished or unpolished, the difference is small, but I prefer unpolished A8's.

We have a lot of magnet choices these days, and prices are low. Great time to tweak your tones and get just what you want.

thanks laznovik those descriptions were helpful. I believe I'm shooting for the same thing as what you bought. I'm trying to get a richer, warmer, and more vintage type tone out of the pickup in a semi-hollow warmoth build I have and then I'm planning on anitquity humbuckers on my new SG standard.
