Re: Where can I find a back plate for a LP Standard Double cut
You can get the 1/16" sheet ABS plastic around town for cheap. That cover is just a matter of making two cuts, three curves, and drilling/countersinking three screw holes. You can use basic tools for it, all hand tools except the drill; no need to fabricate router template for such a small project that ends up hidden from view anyhow. This is how I would do it: Make a template out of some sort of heavy paper/card material, then transfer it to the plastic using a mechanical pencil. Use an existing edge of the plastic sheet for one side of the plate. Then, using a metal ruler to guide a razor saw, make the cuts for the other two sides, which will leave you with a triangle. When cutting, try to hug the outside of the pencil line, not cut right on it. That will leave you room for smoothing and and adjustments with a sanding block later on. Then, making a series of straight cuts, get close to the line on the curves. Then come in to the line with sandpaper on a block. Use finer sandpaper to smooth the edges. Drill and countersink your holes, then smooth them. Peel the protective coating off, then polish the thing with plastic polish. Get three screws, and that's it. It's 30 minutes of work, if that, plus your shopping time, and the materials are cheap.
