Where DD Magnet?

Re: Where DD Magnet?

Different sized magnets. What's your game plan for the variance?

Re: Where DD Magnet?

The DD coils are wound slighty more with a slightly different wind pattern.

interesting. people that would actually know have told me different.

not an internet rumor.
not something that someone has written in a blog and put "quotes" around it to improperly cite someone that didn't really say it.

but someone that knows. which is why I changed my position on this within the last year to that of being a kool-aid drinker to being made aware of the facts. still...what are pesky little facts in the big scheme of things.

That is my understanding. I have an A2 in it which sounds good but I really like the DD so, where can I get the mag?

We had the official confirmation on this forum a year or so ago the the DD and JB were a different wind, so you can only get 'close' with the double thick ceramic.

To the OP, Addiction FX sells magnets on the bay.

Since I tend to go with what told from an authority rather than want to continued to get burned by an Internet mouthpiece, who was it that have the official confirmation a year or so ago?

Re: Where DD Magnet?

I believe it was Evan or Frank that said the JB and Distortion are not the same wind. It was definitely someone from Seymour Duncan, I know that.

Re: Where DD Magnet?

I don't believe Frank was saying something like that.

Isn't Evan the one who admitted to be running around trying to design a new neck model for Slash, only to be told what he came up with an idea that is already known as the Jazz model?

I remember that story as well.

Re: Where DD Magnet?

This is all pretty interesting. I think I will leave the JB2 in for now. It balances really well with the YJM in the neck. And I already have another guitar with a DD.
The new YJM is pretty cool. I put them in a Jackson SDX. It is funny its is basswood but it is extremely heavy. Great guitar for only $400 (with that $100 off coupon from MF a while ago).

Found the thread, scroll down to Frank's post, check it out: https://forum.seymourduncan.com/showthread.php?222644-JB-amp-DISTORTION-THE-SAME-PUP-EXCEPT-MAG/page2&highlight=jb+distortion

Re: Where DD Magnet?

One more thing on this hijacked thread. ;)

I wired a 500K resistor across the input jack to tame the highs of the JB2 and YJM by dropping the pot to 250K. Works great.

:hijacked:

Had to put the facts out...there is plenty of other sites on teh interwebz that are chock full of fecal matter...enjoy your pickup ;)

Re: Where DD Magnet?

I love that thread. And I love that I started it talking about how these forum posts become permanent, searchable archives, and now here we are discussing it years later. I remember that reply too, and how some interpreted it to mean they are the same, and others that they aren't. I wouldn't confirm that as an employee and I won't now either.

Re: Where DD Magnet?

And that's why I love you, Frank ;) Glad you're not giving in. Maybe someday we'll all get the point and do the research for ourselves :)
