Where does music come from?

You know it is a bit creepy how you make tunes and songs up. I made this tune up and I have no idea what I was thinking about or what it is supposed to relate too? Very strange. I just sat down and this damn tune suddenly appeared. Odd tune like no other tune I play to be honest. Still I have another tune to mess about with and perfect. Will break the piece up more though. I repeat the first part about 3x before dropping down to the lower notes to finish. Still I think this tune will become very sweet with more practise - something I am not doing enough of lately.

Do you really like it? Now you mention it it sure is like Horror Music. Thought to see who would like this stuff so went and listened to some of your music. Well they sound bloody great to me. Love your soundclick Heavy Rock songs

I have these strange tunes popping out of me all the time now. The more I practise the more they appear. I must have a good 6-10 unique tunes. As long as they are stuff that someone could actually listen to and get some enjoyment from I may as well continue to make them up.

Listening to your Heavy Metal whilst writing this - quality stuff .

Who knows?

Do we have a muse-type entity than channels it through us?

Is it just subconscious cross-talk between the hemispheres of our brain?

Is it part of a conscious, cognitive process like mathematics or language?

I don't know.

My best work seems to come out of nowhere - like I'm not writing it as much as I'm finding it... hearing it in my head, knowing that it's just right and letting it out. When I sit down and actually try to write, I get nothing - or I get something that I know to be inferior to what I'm capable of when it seems like something is whispering it into my ear... I don't know.

It's one of the great mysteries, I think, but I enjoy it more than most other things in life.
