Where to buy control cavity plate?

I need a backplate for my SG400. I've done a quick search and found nada. Even tried the 'bay, but only found very pricey vintage SG covers.

I may attempt to make one. Seen stuff made with albums....could be cool. I don't know though, I think I'd rather just pay for someone to send me one really.

Maybe Epi will send you one.

They sent me some Chrome plastic rings & a knob when a tech butchered mine.

Worth a shot,I guess...

Re: Where to buy control cavity plate?

Thanks! I'll give it a shot.

Did you contact them thru email or did you call them?

Re: Where to buy control cavity plate?

I don't believe Epi's and Gibby's are interchangeable, but I wonder how different they could be. If I'd only have to trim that one down to fit, it may be worth $9. Thanks!

Going to see what Epi will do first.

Re: Where to buy control cavity plate?

Let me know if you find one, I've Been looking for the exact same part for my Epi Sg for years!

Guitar Fetish? Just checked....no. Only showed Tele plates.

But what's up with the Slick guitars they have on there!?
Cheap! But seem well built. Was checking out the double cut aged. Intrigued!

Re: Where to buy control cavity plate?

I only make them when I need one. ;)

I'm still waiting for the store to get the bins in with black or orange lids for halloween so I can stock up (on black ones) again. It's also *really* helpful to have one to copy from. Trying to trace it from the body is a pain.

Re: Where to buy control cavity plate?

I had to make a tracing template, wasn't so bad.
Lay/tape a sheet of paper over the cavity,& lay the pencil down flattish.Catches the edges pretty good, cut along those then 1 out of cardboard/whatever from that.

Yup, that's what I did. Still much easier to trace around an existing one. Made an electronics cover for the back of an Ibanez SZ, and it turned out "acceptable". Since I have a few SZs now I might go back and make a new one. Made a tremolo cover for the BC Rich but I had a Jackson one that fit perfectly to trace. That one turned out pretty nice.
