You can check out The Tube Store, or Vacuumetube.com - both have a pretty extensive line of tubes (some NOS stuff as well).

JJ's are good tubes, I've used the EL34 and EL84 power tubes and have been very happy with the results, I also like the Svetlana EL34's, EH EL34's and EL84's. Groove tubes has been improving thier products over the last couple of years - they're more expensive than other new tube makers. I also like the JJ ECC83 and ECC82 preamp tubes. What type of tubes are you using?

Check out www.revolutionguitar.com, great prices, fast shipping and good folks to deal with. As far as the JJ's, great tubes but can be a bit on the dark side. This can be good for an overly bright amp to tame it.

Both of my amps use EL34's in the power section and 12AX7's for preamp tubes. The Carvin Legacy has Electro Harmonix tubes and the Crate has Groove tubes. My crate combo is overly bright on the clean channel though. It is AB class and I haven't changed tubes for two years. It has always seemed to run pretty hot. Probably needs a bias adjustment too.

Re: Where to buy tubes? I know of Eurotubes, where else?

I'm running 12AX7 (ECC83S) and 6L6GC tubes from Eurotubes, and can't speak highly enough of them. Much, much better than the stock Mesa branded tubes that came in my amp, although they were probably 5 years old when I got my amp.

Re: Where to buy tubes? I know of Eurotubes, where else?

JJs are great, darker voiced, and heard some reliability complaints recently, 75% reject rate... :omg: Im using E34L, 6L6 and some ECC83s at the moment, no problem noticed, but they were preselected.

EH are fine tubes too. A bit brighter voiced than JJ.

Ei's are excellent sounding tubes, but known for reliability problems.

GT is an excellent manufacturer/relabeler. I used to hate them, but now that I know more and more about their selection process, I wouldnt hesitate to buy their products. They test their tubes way more than any other resellers. You just have to know what you're buying from them....

Re: Where to buy tubes? I know of Eurotubes, where else?

I just put some JJ's in my amp the other day and I'm mightly impressed. This is the third time I've retubed this particular amp and three must be a charm, cause it's never sounded better. Why don't you want to go thru Eurotubes? Bob provides great service and price. I ordered mine on a Sunday evening and received them Wed. With 3000 miles between us, that's not bad.
