What would be agood program to use for making good sounding rock drum stuff for writing purposes? All the stuff I seem to find is techno-ish loopy stuff. Point me in the right direction.

Re: Where to get good rock drum software...

Addictive drums or Drums From Hell are both good. Also look at the Steven Slate drums if you can afford them.

Re: Where to get good rock drum software...

toontrack's superior drummer 2.0 is pretty highly regarded. only $149 at sweetwater right now, that's a pretty good deal. looks like sweetwater's got a pretty good deal on EZ drummer with the DFH expansion for a hundred bones (geeze, I spent a hundred on EZD alone, rats!)

Re: Where to get good rock drum software...

What about cheap / free?
I just need to have some decent drums for demo use in audacity. I need to get the basic idea down to give to some people (singer mostly) so he can work on the lyrical line.

Re: Where to get good rock drum software...

There are no decent free drums out there --- I have tried and tried and tried and tried and tried.

You have to cough up the $ if you want decent.

It is a long arduous process that culminates in tenure, a high post count, and a certain level of eminence. You and I are not close.

Re: Where to get good rock drum software...

back on topic, this months issue of computer magazine has a free copy of EZ Drummer lite with it. Its not available in the US yet (at least not in Alabama)
Its the december issue.
Fits my cheap free requirement, now just to see how good it works once I get it.

Re: Where to get good rock drum software...

Superior 2.0, hands down. EZdrummer on a budget, maybe, but Superior 2.0 was $150 for a while at most retailers, might still be.

I have (or have since sold) BFD2, Addictive Drums, Steven Slate Drums, DFH1 + 2 + Superior, EZdrummer + DFH and Nashville expansions, and Superior 2.0 and the NY and Metal Foundry expansions. My favorite one is still, most definitely, the Avatar kit in Superior 2.0

You mean the Korg Nanopads? I tried to use that EZD lite and I could not get it to work. the instructions for doing so are incredibly short and cryptic. So, I sent them an email... about 4 months ago. Never heard back. :banghead:
