There is a brittish company crimson guitars that make good custom guitars just the way you want them.

Where are you located? You can always look local...there's a guy up near me who has made some of the nicest Korina V's I've ever laid my hands on

Re: Where to have custom guitars made??

Sorry to jump in, but is it possible to do something for us living in EU? Possibly something reasonably priced and white a good web based builder. Thanks.

Re: Where to have custom guitars made??

Thanks guys for all the help. There is a local luthier in Here in Wv but he's a authorized Gibson,Fender and Martain repair center. So he won't build copy's..

Re: Where to have custom guitars made??

Im itching to try one.. Not had hands on, but have heard very good things. Plus, have had many conversations with Mike and he is VERY cool and seems very concerned with customer satisfaction. Its just a one man operation..

Pretty much anyone selling now cannot copy anything that is shape protected. Someone on MLP was doing mini LPs called the Less Tall...until the cease and desist letter came. And he wasn't even matching the headstock either. The EU area might be less problematic, but anywhere in the US and any reputable builder will not want to risk legal issues.

Re: Where to have custom guitars made??

I'm looking for somewhere that will build custom guitars no matter the shape.I know carvin does but they don't offer any Flying V,explorer or sg shapes. If someone could give me a lead on a luthier that can do one of these with real quality it would be appreciated. Thanks

What country are you in? Crimson Guitars in Dorchester are very good. Ben is a little eccentric but is very, very fussy with his builds. But you will pay upwards of £3000 for the privilege. You might also have to wait anywhere between 3 to 6 months. He doesn’t do set necks or bolt ons as a rule. He is strictly a through neck builder

I'm in the Us and $3k is a little out of budget.I have looked them up though and they look very nice.

I did reply to your last post but it seems to have been swallowed by the abyss. Our £3000 is roughly US$4000 and I did "starting from £3000. He has been known to sell for as much as £6000 (US$7800). He does a cheaper line now starting at around £800 (US$1000) but the bodies are made on the CNC whereas his high end custom stuff is totally hand crafted from scratch. Maybe have a look at that and see if that's more in line with your budget. Having said that, they are still very high quality guitars.

If 3k is out of budget then I think most custom guitars are off the table. Even buying a Gibson as parts would make it 3k, and thats a production line guitar. Add in custom making and finishing to your retail parts to build it and you are 3k and up unless you cheap out on the build.
