Where Will My "69" Fuzz Pedal Go In My Effects Chain?

Guys....I run into a buffer pedal and then into my wah...From there my signal goes through a Vox Valve Tone,TS808,Marshall Jackhammer,DS1,and lastly a fulltone mini deja vibe or an EH Small Stone....

Where do I try the 69 Fuzz pedal? Right before or right after my wah?

I use it just before the wah.

Guitar into '69 into wah.

When I use a distortion device after the wah it seems to reduce the wah effect.

Really Lew? I've always run into my wah first and then into my overdrive/distortion pedals...My wahs are so vocal, maybe I don't see any problems? I'll try it though....

Let me ask this question then....If I end up leaving my setup the way it is since it works well for me,do I Put the Fuzz before the other overdrive/distortion pedals or last in line just before the Deja Vibe?

I dunno...I've never used a distortion device with a wah wah any other way than with the distortion device into the wah. Using distortion after a wah or after a chorus works OK, and some people (you!) seem to like that. But I like to push the wah wah with the distortion or overdrive pedal. When I saw Jeff Beck in '67 he used his wah wah like that and I copied it and have done it that way ever since. If I remember right, he had a Marshall Fuzz (maybe a Supa-fuzz?) plugged into his wah wah all three nights that saw him in '67. I was a Jeff Beck nut at the time so I copied the way his stage setup was. I got it to see his stuff from very close up. Front row. Lew

My impression from the materials that Fulltone sends with their fuzzes is that the germanium Fulltone pedals don't like to follow buffers, so I'd put it dead first. If that doesn't sound good switch it around until you get the sound that you like.

Thanks guys....
See I've never used a fuzz pedal....I've only used overdrive and distortion pedals...These pedals have FET inputs that don't suck up tone, plus the buffer retains any loss in signal, noise, and loss of highs...I guess the Fulltone Fuzz might be a bit of a curve ball for me?

In the past,I've basically not found a fuzz that sounded right....It never sounded like Jimi....I feel I'm getting closer though...LOL

Re: Where Will My "69" Fuzz Pedal Go In My Effects Chain?

Mike Fuller says put the "69" BEFORE everything...I guess before the buffer and my wah? Lew is right again..As always! LOL.....Geez Lew....So much useless knowledge up in that head of your's.... ;o)

Re: Where Will My "69" Fuzz Pedal Go In My Effects Chain?

I would want to put it before modulation but after the wah.

The other guys know what they are talking about more then me though, but doesn't that go against traditional set up? Wah, distortion, modulation/time. modulation/time in the effects loop if possible.

I was on www.guitargeek.com earlier looking at jimi's setup...It showed the wah before his fuzz face? Guess I'll have to experiment....here's the drawing..

I like fuzz first. It's the only dirt I run before the wah, ODs and distortion I run after the wah.

Is the 69 germanium? If it is, it would probably work best at high impedance, before the buffer.

Edit: just read the rest of the thread.....I guess I should save my 2 cents until I'm finished reading.....

Experimenting is fun too. I Like distortion to be after the wah personally. I don't like wahing the distortion, it makes it too evident. With the wah before everything it makes it sound like an extension of the guitar.

That buffer you use, wouldn't you want to put it right before your amp? Between the length of cable from your last pedal and the input of the amp? I thought their main purpose is to restore lost output after traveling quite a distance.

edit for the typos

Yep...Germaniums....

John, I think you should send me the fuzz in NJ and We'll run a signal through the phone lines. I think this would sound best to (and for) me!:)
