Which $100 amp should I buy?

Here's the story. My son plays the drums. But he has an old SG that he plays, and he uses my practice amps.

He's graduating from high school this year, and I'm thinking of what I would like to buy him as a graduation gift. He doesn't have any specific plans for his life after high school - other than going to a community college. So I thought something musical would be good to get. He could always use another cymbal - can drummers have too many cymbals? But I thought an amp would be good - since he's moving into his own place this summer and I don't really want him taking my stuff (I think he can do better).

So - we spent around $100 on his sister's graduation present - any ideas for a decent practice amp around $100? (no ebay or used - I would like new)

I saw a Roland that looked nice for $99.99

The Epiphone Valve Jr is nice @ $99.

I second the Epiphone Valve JR, but then you need a speaker cab. Its closer to 150 but the new Crate Taxi series are great amps, good sound and they are battery powered. I liked the one i tried.

I picked up a Kustom Tube 12A for $120 from a small shop that sounds pretty good and is surprisingly loud.

Dude, you can get a used Vox AD30 for little more than $100. And it's WELL worth it.

I was also going to suggest some type of modeler like Vox or Roland, since it's only for practice. Line 6 is ok, but kinda gets old after a while!

I like the Epiphone Valve Jr. I use mine with a couple different cabs. With my 4x10 cab, this thing can get really loud.

I use the Valve Junior as a practice amp. Sometimes I feed my PODXt into it, but if I am just gonna have a quick practice I run it dry. Sounds great to me.
