Which 2 amps would you play?

In a perfect world, one without volume or space issues, which two amps would you play live (either stereo or using an A/B box)?

Re: Which 2 amps would you play?

Vintage 1965 Twin Reverb for cleans and a vintage 1968 50 watt Plexi on a cab of 20-watt Pre-rola celestions.

Re: Which 2 amps would you play?

Corbic has the right idea fo an A/B setting...I get as close as I can right now...I use my SF Twin Reverb (had it Blackfaced) for cleans and a Sound City 50+ through a Fane loaded 4x12 for crunch...I think it sounds killer!

Re: Which 2 amps would you play?

Soldano SLO-100 with a Marshall Plexi right next to it.

Re: Which 2 amps would you play?

I like Crbics setup too. All though I would probably use a Super Reverb instead of the Twin. Up until recently I was using a Super Reverb (silver) A/B'd with a Marshall 900. I used these 2 amps for about 7 to 12 years (I have had both a long time). I recently bought a Bogner Shiva and I can get cleans that IMHO are far better than I was getting with the Super and the Drive is really good, but different than the 900 (in a good way) Its drive is more organic and looser than the Marshall, but the Marshall has more gain. In large rooms the Plexi would be my choice or If I really had my choice............. a Tainwreck Wouldn;t that be nice! With that beast no A/B necessary

Re: Which 2 amps would you play?

Brownface Concert and any model Champ.

The Concert covers it all, at 6 it's clean with punch up 'til 7.5, after that it doesn't get any louder, just more crunchy and Marshalled out.

The champ because how often to I get a chance to pump my Concert!?:smack:

Re: Which 2 amps would you play?

i already own the 2 amps and switching system i could use for the rest of my life.... a C50 head for clean tones, and a 5150 for the earth moving stack.... i switch between the heads using a special made Axess Electronics Head Swticher unit... saddly no longer made.... They work great! Anyways the tones i get out of that rig are good for me....

I'm sure if i was to redo my rig without cost being an issue i may pick a Mesa Boogie and a Marshall to a/b between..... but for now i'm happy..

Re: Which 2 amps would you play?

I'd have to say my Marshall 2204 and 2205 in stereo. The blend of tones with these two amps running together is perfect! I've only recently put together this combo but, dayam! Now of course, I do have to put in there my Line 6 stuff for clean tones as well as yet another tonal dimension for my dirty tone. Think Marshall in stereo, huge crunch, with a Boggie-esque tone going, slightly delayed to emulate a doubled guitar track. It really is quite large!

Here are the Marshalls...
