Which 5-way super switch

I need some help( Artie, Stratdeluxer , or one of you other wiring gurus) I googled 5-way superswitch and found 2 different switches. One is single wafer and the other is double wafer, which switch do I use to make these pup combos on a Strat ?

5 - neck
4 - neck & middle
3 - neck & bridge
4 - middle & bridge
5 - bridge

Also, how does the switch get wired? If anyone can help I would surely appreciate it. Thanks.......Joe

Re: Which 5-way super switch

Get a double wafer. guiterelectronics.com has one at a good price. I'll get onto a diagram for you, anyhow. Two tone pots, one volume?

Edit: also, what pickups?

Hi SpiderVenom, 1 volume, 2 tone. 1 tone control for neck, the other for bridge. TwangBanger in the bridge, ssl-1 in neck & middle. thanks for the help .....Joe

Re: Which 5-way super switch

If I may suggest an idea. Using the super switch, there's an interesting idea for tone pots. Basically, an any given position, there's only (at most) two pickups active. It can be wired so that in an position, the first tone controls the pickup closest, to the neck, and the second tone controls the pickup closest to the bridge. (in the case of a one pickup setting, it'll just be the appropriate tone pot active) This way, you can have tone controls for all pickups without having one pot control more than one pickup. Just an idea, tell me what you think.

It is a cool idea but I'm partial to to the tone of the mid pup without the tone control, more quack in position 2 & 4. I'm also forgetful & wouldn't know which control was which. :smack:

Re: Which 5-way super switch

Ok, here it is. Some wires I haven't rendered, for simplicity, but they are noted in the diagram (for example, pickup grounds). All grounds should to the back of the volume pot, like the ones shown. The red wire to the jack is to represent the hot. Should be fairly self intuitive. Post any questions you have, and best of luck.

Note: if it appears fuzzy, zoom in.

The Schaller Megaswitch E will do that. They are about $10 dollars
