yeah man,
choosing this is totally driving me nuts. lol!
Im ready to grab that apricot body or just go for the first one that is fire burst with the trans red back.
with the 4 pounder i would assume that the guitar would weigh in at around 7.8 pounds and with the apricot a little under or around 7.5.
the argument between the two is that the 1/8 maple top basically doesnt do anything of what i hear. and then again the glue in between it may dampen the tone a bit. but being a bit heavier might add to more low end. so what to do???

you actually think you will HEAR the glue between the maple cap?
The brightness of the maple far overcomes the imagined dampening that you think you will percieve on say a solid basswood body. You realize that most bodys are 2 or 3 pieces joined together anyway. Also a fret board is always glued to the neck.
The weight difference you are agonizing over is about equal to the amount of meat on a average sandwich...is that gonna break your back? why you going with basswood anyway? it sucks. To me light guitars feel like toys ,and heavy guitars feel like a solid instrument....Oh I see you have a roadstar,..my roadstar is heavier than my LP..I found the best thing for me is to use a 3" strap on heavier guitars so it dont cut into my shoulder.....I hear people say stuff like "I just cant play my LP anymore its killing my back" I never knew so many frail little old men were out there playing guitar,work out with that sucker! be a man and Rock!
