Which brand are Line6's DAC's on PODxt and POD HD (and how good are they)?

Hey guys! So i just read on the internet that the quality of the DAC's of an audio interface is the soul of the audio it produces.

My question is the one on the title: - Which brand are the DAC's Line6 uses on POD HD and which one did they used on the XT bean.

I own an XT bean, so that's the source of my interest.

(PS: Also, if possible, i'd like to know which are the best DAC's, and how good are Line6's compared to those. Thanks!)

DACs are important, and it certainly doesn't hurt to read up on them, but not every implementation of a circuit using the same DAC chip is equal in performance and sound quality. In other words, it's not just the DAC, it's also how you use it. In addition to the usual digital design and microprocessor system architecture stuff that's obviously important but unfortunately bores me so intensely that I can't be bothered to learn much about it, the people who design these products also have a lot of leeway in how they implement the analog input and output stages that support the DACs. This stuff is also very important for sound quality -- no less so than it is in a similar analog product like a preamp, dynamic processor, etc.

Hm, thanks for the info, i just read this on other places too.

But now my wonder is why POD HD sounds a lot like AXE-FX in the character of the tone, and even better for some vintage and clean tones (and the Bogner sim), but still doesn't sound as bright, clear, and therefore defined.

Does this regard more the components or the software technology? Cause i really can't believe that with all the marketing Line6 has worse tone architechture than a smaller company like Fractal Audio?
