Which bridge HB to pair with SSL-1's in a Yamaha Pacifica?

Re: Which bridge HB to pair with SSL-1's in a Yamaha Pacifica?

Since you have a trem on that thing you'll need the Trembucker.

What wolf5150 is talking about with the TB version being thinner sound... No idea why that could possibly be.

I don't believe it's true that Trembuckers have a thinner sound than their standard spaced counterparts. Having a vibrato or not has nothing to do with whether you use a Trembucker or not, IMO. It's all about the proper string spacing and Fender string spacing is the same at the bridge whether the guitar has a vibrato or is a hard tail w/o vibrato. I'll vote for a Trembucker too...but because it will have the proper string spacing. The reason I suggested a JB is not because it's my favorite humbucker in a Strat - THAT would be a nickel covered Pearly Gates Trembucker. The reason I suggested the JB is because it sounds good with 250K pots and the single coil SSL-1's pretty much have to have 250K pots to sound "right".

the difference between my two is slight but its there. The guitars have identical woods, pots, wiring and caps . That makes it possible to tell the difference. Its only slight and would in no way stop me choosing a trem spaced pickup if i needed one.

Nobody but think that the '59/Custom Hybrid couldn be a good choice, specially if wired with 250K pots?

HTH,

I had the Hybrid as the bridge pickup in a single humbucker Strat I donated to charity around Christmas time. Spent some time with the Hybrid and really like it. But I wouldn't use it with 250K pots. The JB, I would use with 250K pots. In fact, I prefer the JB with 250K pots.
