Which bridge pickup for project guitar.

Hi,

This is my first post to the forum so here it goes:

I have a strat style guitar with maple neck and ebony fingerboard. Pickup configuration is Hum/Sing/Sing. Vintage style tremelo.
I am looking for a PAF style pickup to put in the bridge. So far I have narrowed my search to these:
Seth Lover model
SH-1 59
Pearly Gates
I play through a Fender Twin with a Marshall Guv' nor pedal for distortion. I definately do not want anything too bright as I already get a lot of high end from the Twin.
I play many styles but mostly hard rock in the Zep/ AC/DC style. Want to get as close to that classic Les Paul sound as possible.

P.S not sure what I'm doing for the singles but will worry about that with a later post

what kind of classic style tone are you looking for- a smooth fat tone thats rounded off and warm, or a gritty texas tone?

I am looking for that 70 blues rock sound ala Page (Custard Pie intro), early Jeff Beck group, early aerosmith.

Basically I think a more cutting sound than rounded off. I plan on having my neck pickup eventually being the one that is more"creamy"

of those pickups, with your wood, the '59 might be a little bright

I think the PG might be a bit bright too. I like the CC at the bridge of a strat as well.

I think the PG might be a bit bright too. I like the CC at the bridge of a strat as well.

When you say."CC" is that the Duncan Custum Covers? and if not which pickup is that?

He means Custom Custom. That's too hot to be in the PAF range. I would think that a Seth would be a better choice.

Would the Seth model be okay to use for stuff a bit heavier( Sabbath) once in a while? I guess I am just wondering if it is versatile enough.

I do mean Custom Custom, and it is a bit hot to be classified as a PAF, but if you want your strat to pretend it's a Lester, it's a good place to start.
