which bridge pickup provides the best low end?

What SD bridge pup has the best bottom end, like more bass or a fatter, meatier sound when played dirty? Its really hard to tell from the samples on the SD website.

From what i could tell(and i could be wrong) the pearly gates sounded a litter more bottom-ended or fatter than the custom and the distortion.

I would tend to think one of the alnico 5 pickups or maybe a ceramic. I wouldn't think the alnico 2 pickups, like the PG, would be the one you're looking for if big deep tight low end is your goal. I could be wrong...but I'd be looking at the 59, JB, Custom, Custom 5....etc.

Metal/Rock. After listening again it sounds like the Custom custom might have a little more beef in the low end than the others. I wish i could hear a sample of the Custom 5 you mentioned.

I think you're refering to lower mid, as opposed to bass reading your post...

Having used the Custom as well as the Custom 5, I'll say the Custom 5 appears to have more bass, but the custom seems to have a lot more mids which makes it seem fuller and fatter for palm muting and the like... Both are very good pickups.

If you're gonna veer off into metal both can cover it, but I'd probably take the Custom over the 5 in that territory. More towards a rock kinda scene, possibly the 5 but that depends, the custom is great here also.

Clean, the 5 deffinately has the edge IMO, and both sound nice when split. I personally don't care for the custom's clean tone as a humbucker... Useable but dull imo.

I'd say Custom as well. Great lower mids that really chunk up the sound. Great hard rock/older metal pup.

If you're looking for thick, fat mids, then alnico 2 might be what you're after and there's none finer than the Custom Custom for that thick, almost syrupy thick lead tone. One of my favrorite pickups...I use it in my favorite humbucking guitar, my Hamer Monoco.

I thought you were wanting a pickup with "more bass": deep, tight bottem end, and for that I'd said the alnico 5 59B, Custom 5 or JB. But with the exception of the JB, the 59B and C5 do not have as thick or as pronounced a midrange content as the Custom Custom.

The Custom is a ceramic magnet version of the C5 and Custom Custom pickups. What I find with ceramic is that it has full mids like alnico 2 (though not quite as pronounced as in the alnico 2 Custom Custom) and deep lows (sort of like alnico 5) and highs with a little more texture or sizzle than either a2 or a5.

Sounds like you'd like either the Custom or Custom Custom.

I'd also say invader, with this pickup 'low end' is axactly how i would describe it, loads of low mids and bass.

Low end would have a lot more to do with the amp you are using, a guitar pickup does not give much low end at all.

Duncan Distortion!! Heavy, tight low end. Endless crunch. I have a pair in an ebony LP Classic & they really kick some serious ass! From your original post, I believe this is what you asked for. My .02. Good luck.
