What guitars have been hanging on for decades and are still cranking out great music today? Difficulty - no Gibsons or Fenders that makes things way too easy. I will start with the Ibanez Iceman.

Re: Which classic guitar has taken the test of time the best?
Easy the Super Srat. Back routed mostly bolt on guitars like the Charvell /Jacksons , Carvins and Ibanez guitars that emerged in the 1980's are still very popular choices for players of all styles!
Got quite a few myself.
Re: Which classic guitar has taken the test of time the best?
Guitarists never really change unless a new style of music emerges. Aside from extreme metal, most genres are still using the same stuff from decades ago. There's also survival bias at play: most successful brands today exist almost solely because their flagship model(s) has proven to stand the test of time. So you could pick the most popular model from almost any established brand and it's likely to have been introduced 30+ years ago.
Ibanez: RG
Jackson: Dinky
PRS: Custom
Gretsch: Jet (or pretty much any of their hollowbodies)
Even relative new-comer ESP has been at it for ~30 years.

I dig the Gretsch Duo-Jet G6128T which sort of competes with the Gibson Les Paul. I find this guitar a bit more sparkling sounding compared to the LP and it looks cool...even with an ebony fret board.
