Which Combo for my Mexi Strat?

Whats up guys, havnt posted here in a while. I'm replacing the pickups in my Strat and I need some opinions. Its a 2000 Fender Mexi Strat with an Alder Body, Maple Neck, Rosewood board and a Vintage Tremolo WITH....Tremol-No :). I'll be using the Bridge pickup for Rock, Blues, Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Metal, etc. So far I'm gonna get the Hot Rails for that. The middle will be for Rock, Blues, Hard Rock, and Metal. For that I'm stuck between the Lil' Screamin Demon and the JB Jr. I'm leaning towards the Lil' Screamin Demon though. And the neck is going to be for Blues, Jazz and Shred. For that I have the DiMarzio Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues. And I'm getting the new rails because they look A HELL of alot better than the old ones. I really need your opinions guys so please help me out here. Thanks a lot, Marc.

Re: Which Combo for my Mexi Strat?

Anyone? PLEASE!? I'm supposed to be going to Guitar Center to order the pickups TODAY so if anyone could help me ASAP that would be much appreciated. Thanks, Marc

Re: Which Combo for my Mexi Strat?

I had a cool rail in the neck for a while, and that was great. Straty, but with a bit more umph. Pretty versatile

Re: Which Combo for my Mexi Strat?

I don't have any experience with the lil screamin demon, so I can't really say with it. The JB Jr. should work pretty well. I had one in a similarly constructed guitar, except the body was (mostly) basswood, and mine was in the bridge. Don't know how well it would pair up with that DiMarzio, though.

Re: Which Combo for my Mexi Strat?

Well I already ordered the pickups today because I had to go to Guitar Center. But is there any money back gaurantee from Duncan like there is the 30 day program from DiMarzio? I forgot to ask the guy at Guitar Center incase I dont like the pickups. :smack:

Re: Which Combo for my Mexi Strat?

I have a mid 90's MIM Strat with a Hotrails in the bridge and i like it a lot.... It's a little bright but i live with it.... good luck on your tone quest

Re: Which Combo for my Mexi Strat?

Lol thanks guys. Well it looks like the Hot Rails was a good choice. What about the Lil Screamin Demon over the JB Jr. foor the middle? And the DiMarzio Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues over the Cool Railsfor the neck?

Re: Which Combo for my Mexi Strat?

If it were my choice i would definatley get the jb jr and the Cool rails. I think there both great pickups. It really depends on what tone you want.

Re: Which Combo for my Mexi Strat?

True. Well I know what tone I want. I just dont know which pickup is best for that tone in my guitar. :fingersx:

Re: Which Combo for my Mexi Strat?

Hot Rails/Vintage rails/Cool Rails, and be done with it!

The reason why I say the vintage rail for the middle, it seems most folks dont use the middle pickup on its own so, the Vintage rail will work great in position 2 and 4 to complement the Hot Rail and the cool Rail. Or, just go with a hot rail and 2 cool rails.

Re: Which Combo for my Mexi Strat?

Well I plan on using the middle pickups by itself a lot, I just never did in the past because it sounded like crap. Thats why I was stuck between the Lil Screamin Demon and the JB Jr.

Re: Which Combo for my Mexi Strat?

To answer your question, I believe there is a trial period on Duncans (30 days seems right to me).

Awesome thanks. Can anyone confirm that?
Its like 28 or 30 days bro! Somewhere in that exact neighborhood!

Re: Which Combo for my Mexi Strat?

Alright......thanks. Just wanted to make sure.....incase I dont like the ones I get. Sorry?

Re: Which Combo for my Mexi Strat?

i got a jb junior in the bridge and 2 duckbuckers

i love the quack from 2nd and 4th position and the jb junior is perfect for the stuff i play.

i do find the jb to overpower the duckbuckers a bit tho!

Re: Which Combo for my Mexi Strat?

I would try two Vintage rails and a jb junior in the bridge:eek13:
