Which cover spacing?

I am wanting to put nickel covers on some open coil Seymour Duncans (All SH models: PGn, CC, 59n, PGb) I have in a couple guitars. I found these covers on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/2024-Nickel...006?pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item41605fcb8e
He has 3 different spacings: 49.2mm, 50mm, and 52mm. I was thinking that I need the 49.2mm covers, but I wasn't 100%, and I wanted to make sure. So do I need the 49.2mm covers or the 50mm covers?

I Think that Seymour Duncan SH models are 1 15/16 inches, which is 1.9375 inches, which is 49.2mm I'm pretty sure... not 100% though...

Sorry, I just want to be 100% SURE that the 49.2mm covers are what I need for my Duncans before I order several of them.... Anyone?

You're going to need to buy Seymour Duncan covers.

why? I don't have experience with duncans, but in theory any regular spaced cover should fit.

In theory, yes.

In practice, putting a cheap brass cover could kill the p'ups tone.

The ones sold at mojotone.com are excellent-sounding, considering the price.

To the OP: if those guys tell the truth 'bout the covers being the ones sold at GuitarJones, they're pretty good, so I'd say search no mo'.

I finally heard back from the seller after I sent him a message a few days ago, this is what I sent him...

And this is what he replied back to me...

Hi,

You'll need 50mm for the neck and 53mm for the bridge.
If they don't fit, I'll pay for return postage and replace the neck covers with 49.2mm free of charge.

I didn't think the standard SH bridge pickups were that wide...

I don't either......I'm at work right now but I got a nifty digital slide caliper for Christmas and when I get home I will do some measuring of my covered Duncans, uncovered Duncans as well as a few Gibson pickups and see what I come up with........

I would buy the duncan covers. there is a reason they are more expensive, a better fit and a better tone.

This vendor has no clue 'bout Duncan specs.

ALL SH p'ups have a 49.2mm polepiece spread.

ALL TREMBUCKERS (TB-*) have a wider polepiece spread AND a non-standard form, so no other than Duncan Trembucker covers will fit.

i'm considering getting chrome covers for my '59s,
so I guess 49.2 is the way to go then

does that size apply for both bridge and neck?

I bought 2 sets of 49.2mm covers from this seller....They fit my regular spaced Duncans and my Gibson neck pickups perfectly! Very high quality parts, shipped quickly too! To my ears there was no change in tone without and now with the covers.......

Yeah, 0.414" would be correct.
