A tele doesn't really work on Ozzy covers.

I voted 'bucker...

Not a huge fan of the Singles... I use a lot of distortion and singles are too noisy and thin...

I always used to have a bucker in the bridge of my strat types, but the Twangbanger changed that. I love the hollow snap of single coils, plus I can always use a boost and a wah to thicken it up if I need to.

I voted for humbuckers, because if I could only have one pickup for the rest of my life, it would have to be a humbucker in the bridge.

+1 although I haven't had that much experience of well either type of pickup but I use my Custom in the bridge loads more than the stock singles and I used the stock hummer more as well.

I would have to say single coils for their clarity & percussive qualities. I love humbuckers but they are not as versatile for me.

Single coil sized Humbuckers seem to be the best bet for me. I go for a really specific tone, one that I can only really get with Hotrails.

Full Humbuckers though, are still cool. Only with them can you get proper full-on chuggyness with palm muting and stuff. I think the best compromise is a S-S-H Strat.

Too bad the JB Jr. doesn't fit into a strat without pickguard mods. That would be interesting to hear.

Is this true? I thought a JB Jr would just fit into a normal Strat's body fine without no adjustments, it being a normal single-coil size and everything.

I think the old ones were a bit tight. I had a little trouble getting a Lil 59 and a sc-sized PG into my Strat. I think the "new" ones solve that problem.

After getting a telecaster I changed my mind. A tele bridge pickup is a thing of brutal screaming power.

Its the right kind of sound for me, So i change my vote to tele bridge single coils.

Single coils. They can get as dirty as humbuckers.. if i had a few MEsas... and TS-### and all. and still turn them of and get the spanky coils sound.

i used to be into only humbuckers but after playing real singles through a compressor i dont see the benefits of 'buckers other than no hum...which you could cut down on with some sheilding.

I love both, boy, picking one is tough!

I guess I would go with buckers just for the sheer firepower, but not ever being able to play with single coils would be tough.

Dave Gilmour does OK with singles, no? Try to play comfortably numb with a bucker, just not the same. Clapton, Hendrix, Cray, Buddy Guy, are all mostly associated with the single coil strat tone. If I could play like them, I might have a different answer! Neil Young only plays buckers, and he's my all time fave, so it is an almost impossible question. Thankfully, this is only pretend and we can continue to play it all!

I would say HUMBUCKERS!!!!! either will work in the
bridge, but for good metal rythym singles wont do.

Humbuckers for a fatter distortion bridge, Singlecoils in the neck & mid for nice cleans and cool drives...

Interesting!!! I'm trying to decide wether to put 59s or phat cats in my double fat strat and I think this may be just the input I need . I keep putting Humbuckers in it and "can't get no" na na na "satisfaction".......Maybe thats it! I'm still searching for single coil sound!!!!!!!! TA DA!!!!! Phat Cats!!!!!!

Well, IMHO, humbuckers handle everything better than singles EXCEPT cleans in the neck position, simply cuz you can almot get an acoustic sound otta that one

I vote humbuckers, although my new PRS Soapbar SE has given me a new appreciation for single coils. (Thanks Theodie for turning me on to the Soapbar SE!!!!)
