Which effects route to turn?

Okay folks, I was out of the loop for forty (yes, 40) years, and just recently decided to start playing again. When I quit...it was playing a Strat and Twin Reverb, which I sold (duhhh) while touring S.E. Asia... so I guess I am starting over.
Recently bought a Fender FM 212R, and a Yamaha Strat-type as a start-up, but got hung up in the effects department.
Any ideas of what would be the best effects box to use to do some AC/DC, Lynyrd, late 60's-mid 70's rock to hard rock?
Appreciate it.

Hi Apache,

Welcome to the forum, and welcome back to guitar playing!

A couple questions: (1) Are you not satisfied with the overdrive tone on the Fender FM? (2) What is your budget for effects?

sounds like those styles all you need is a good amp with some reverb.... maybe a Delay pedal for some slight delay at times.. but those bands are not known for effects....

Thanks guys. And to KGMessier, no...the OD on the 212 seems to depend a lot on volume..the louder the volume, then the greater the effect. Maybe I need a pair of ear plugs. Budget wise, it's whatever the old lady will let me spend.
WhoFan, yeah, delay may be the answer, but, chorus, wah-wah, and fuzz (OD) seem to play a part in some of them.
