Just got off the phone with M-F....ordered the black cherry....it'll be here in 3-5 biz-days. Would've went overnight shipping for an additonal $50-$60 but I already had to pay a sales tax and they offered free shipping on the 3-5 day delivery. Hell, I already waited 2 weeks, so another few days of waiting won't kill me.......too much...lol.
I'll post soon on it's performance, I hope..........:fingersx:

Re: which finish color?

Black cherry, generally I like sunbursts but if the photo's colors are accurate this particular one seems somewhat life-less, I'd have to see them in real life to know for sure but, if I HAD to decide based on the photos, Black Cherry...

Re: which finish color?

I wonder if the sunburst ( the yellowish part) will darken a bit as it ages and mellow out....I'm not a big fan of red and black combinations personally.......hey, go with your "gut" choice and then just play it 'til it is relic'd.

Either way, nice planks.

Have a blast, bro.

PS I'm trying to decide on a strat ....white body...maple or rosewood neck...similar problem. I've got about 3 days to decide. Going towards the rosewood...at this moment. Could change though.

I kinda felt the same when I saw the pics. The sunburst finish colors didn't look very blended together to my eyes. Had there been a tobacco-burst finish I probably would've jumped all over it, but I'm sure I'm gonna like the black cherry just fine.

Thanks to everyone for all input! And, again, I'll post a review of the Corsair just as soon as it arrives and I get a chance to play it.

rock on....

Re: which finish color?

My new Corsair came via UPS yesterday, which I immediately removed from the box and let set out overnight to acclimate itself to room temperature before tuning it today and playing it. I am thoroughly pleased with the way it plays, which is as good or better than any other guitar I currently own. Great action on the well-groomed neck, and it came fairly well set-up and almost still in tune from the factory. The finish (I went for the black cherry) is sweet and the wood looks beautiful. The Duncan Designed HB-101 pickups sound very close to if not the same as the '59 model, and although it's still early in assessing their sound I don't see any reason to be thinking about swapping pups anytime soon. Clean or dirty, they are great for blues or rock. The Bigsby-licensed tremelo works great and doesn't seem to be affecting the tuning of the guitar after moderate use. Thumbs up there.
I did not make a mistake in snagging up on this instrument while on sale at Musician's Friend for $449.99. I like it much better than the Epi Dots and other similarly priced semi-hollow models I played at Guitar Center.
Here's the link if anybody's interested:

This model is no longer being manufactured by Schecter, so if you want a new one you better get one while you can.

Re: which finish color?

Sweet! I guess you'll be jamming like there's no tomorrow, for numerous tomorrows, won't ya? ;)

Enjoy your axe man, oh some photos would be nice!

Re: which finish color?

thanks guys! I'm really likin' this guitar a lot. really nice tone. I'll try to post a pic or two or at least use it for my avatar under my screename.

Re: which finish color?

The guitar pictured in my avatar isn't my guitar, but it is an exact representation of what my new Corsair looks like, including finish. This guitar is so cool to play (like buttah), and sounds so classic. I am really impressed with the out-of-the-box-quality of this instrument. It may be a Korean made guitar, but it goes through a U.S. Schecter inspection and set-up before it makes it's way into the consumer's hands. I can see nothing wrong with the quality of it's construction. There'll be some tweakin' to alleviate a bit of fret buzz on the A string, but other than that it is a superb sounding axe. The HB-101 "Designer" pups sound just like '59's and sizzle nicely with some CM Plexitone or TS-9 distortion, but also sounded excellent when I cranked my DRRI up to 4 (loud) and max'd out the Corsair's volume to produce pure tube-driven rock or sweet blues. The pull/push split coil switch on the bridge tone-pot is pretty handy. My fingers are a little on the large side, the neck fits just right and the string spacing at the nut is perfect for me. The Bigsby works great and doesn't appear to be affecting it's ability to stay in tune.
As you can probably tell, I'm pretty lovestruck by this new acquisition....everything about it works for me, and I'm glad I jumped on it while it was available.

My thanks again to all who participated here....the black cherry finish is beautiful....it's a serious keeper.

Cheers!!

Re: which finish color?

Another quick update. Guitar Center just called to inform me that they can't get any Corsair models and that manufacture is being discontinued by the Schecter company, and that although they are affiliated with M-F (who still offers the guitar in both finishes for $449.99) ....

I'll leave this thread alone after this post, but I needed to correct myself in regards to Schecter's manufacture of the Corsair. Only the particular finishes that were offered by M-F are being discontinued, not the guitar itself. For 2007, it now comes in Gloss Walnut and Black finishes.
My bad....sorry.
