Which guitar body woods suit a JB with A2 best

Which guitar bodiy woods are best suited for a JB with an Alnico 2 magnet?Would it be best suited to a Mahogany Bodied guitar ie. Gibson Explorer or Flying V? Neck through type ie. Jackson Randy Rhoads, such as the RR5? I have two Alnico 2 magnets that pulled out of my two TB-11's,and I'm wondering what to do with one of them,if I don't sell the SH-4 that I have for sale.
I put an Alnico 5 magnet in one of the TB-11's that I have, from a neck position 59,which now has an A4 magnet residing in that. I'm wondering if that would sound good in an Alder bodied Strat with pickguard (HH,no middle pickup). The fingerboard will be rosewood on a Maple neck. If I don't sell that SH-4 JB,I'll probably wind up keeping the bloody thing,so I'll be able to experiment with what future guitar it goes into. An Epiphone Korina bodied Explorer maybe? Or would the SH-14 Custom 5 be better suited to that, for playing Hard edged Classic Rock and Hair Metal.Thanks.:scratchch

the 11 model is the custom custom, right? you just turned it into a custom5, which can definitely work in some situations. as far as what kind of guitar an a2 JB works in, i'd say something bright, tight, and plucky would be great for it as it's a very round and thick pickup. maybe a PRS se custom:scratchch

i am about to put a jb/a2 in the bridge of my epiphone les paul. i hope it sounds similar to a custom custom. i am putting a jazz at the neck with an a2 mag and have hopes that it sounds similar to an aph II.

I tried the JB/A2 in a mahogany guitar and it was great and I tried it in a mahogany guitar and it was lame.

So you tried it in two different mahogany guitars. Blueman335 likes it in his mahogany guitar.

He could probably give you more information on the subject. So far I have heard about 3 people putting them in Mahogany guitars and liking them more than the standard JB. The spikiness of the JB mixes with the smoothness of the A2.

Right.

The point is, I liked it a lot in a Les Paul and it was a letdown in a SG.

The species of wood that a guitar is made from is such an irrelevant detail...

I like my A2 JB in a LP Studio. The A2 gives it mids and warmth, and the JB gives it enough treble to keep from being overly rounded on top (which a Custom Custom is to my ears, at least in an LP). It's a warmer bridge PU than some would like, but it's full & rich, which is what I'm after.

Like uOpt said, don't know what it would sound like in an SG. What works in LP's doesn't always work in SG's.

Yeah, LPs and SGs are two different beasts.

I think that's right. I have two or three pickups that are my favorites and if I like a guitar they would all tend to sound good in that guitar.

If I don't like a particular guitar (because it just lacks the resonance or lack an inherently rich tone that inspires me to play and create) no pickup has ever been able to correct that - so I sell it.

Woods I like would include light weight Swamp Ash, light-weight Alder or light weight Honduras Mahogany. I do not like solid maple guitars - to bright, to tight and to heavy.
