Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

I've sold 1 guitar, my Gibson LP Custom, I don't regret it in the least.

The All-Time Worst: I had a Jackson Limited Edition RR Polka Dot "V", I bought it for a steal at GC, THEN returned it to get a TC Electronics G-Force that I needed to record a CD. Right now, that guitar would easily be worth $1000 more than I paid. :smack:
Rip Glitter would beat you with his Motorhead belt buckle for doing that!

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

I've never sold any guitars, but I sold a Fender "Evil" Twin a few years ago. At the time I had an Epiphone strat copy and the bridge pup was deathly bright. The twin only magnified the brightness. So instead of sounding like crap through a piece of junk 23W solid state amp, it sounded like really loud crap through a good 100W tube amp. I got short on cash and sold the amp. At the time, I didn't realize the potential the amp had. I paid right around $400 for it. I'll probably never get a deal like that again.

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

I'd like a lot of them back but mostly the ones I wish for were -

My '86 LP Jr., didn't sell it though, snapped the headstock off clean at the nut. Repairing it wasn't as option the way the break was and replacing the neck just didn't make sense.

My ebony '87 LP Custom, why I ever got rid of that guitar I will never know. I wasn't playing much for a few years and I let it go :smack: Arghhhhhh!!!!!

My '66 SG Jr,another rather thoughtless sale. Not the best neck but it was a cool sounding guitar.

Other than that my original Dean E'Lite woundln't be a bad guitar to have back, the rest I would only want back to sell at today's prices. I am thinking I'd get more than $225 for '66 Jaguar these days :yell:

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

'78 Gibson Les Paul Standards - I had 2, a maple-necked goldtop, and a mahogany-necked tobacco sunburst. Different, but both nice. Traded them in the early '80's; I wish I'd kept at least one.

'63 Gibson Melody Maker - bought it in the late '70's for $125, beat looking but a solid player. Did my own Pat Travers job on it: Badass bridge & a pair of humbuckers. With its big mahogany log for a neck, it sounded better than either of the Pauls.

'84 Schecter "Townsend" model Tele - black hardware, bound-top black body, maple neck. Two tapped humbuckers. Another log-neck, probably the ONE guitar I'd take back if you let me pick any of them. See it in the B&W photo at the bottom of the page linked in my signature.

I won't even get started on amps...

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

I had an old Silvertone guitar made by Harmony. It was black with gold sparkles and two pickups that looked like someone had taken two of the metal compartments out of the bottom out of a T.V. dinner and slapped them on the guitar. It had a gazillion knobs, half of which didn't work. God I miss that guitar.

It really had a great tone and it was so kitchy it was cool.

The thing I miss most is an old silverface Fender Super Amp. I sold both of those things to pay for college. At least I got something good out the deal.

Anyway, heres a pic of the Silvertone

I regret letting my Carvin Alan Holdsworth go... man that thing was so nice. I traded it for an amp- I dont have the amp anymore either!

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

I had a crackle finished USA BC Rich Gunslinger back in the day. I thought it was a piece of poo then and 10 years later realized what I had. Probably one of the coolest looking guitars ever and really comfortable. The finish was crackle as i said but it was like teal with splotches of blue and purple. There's a Tony McAlpine version of it out there somewhere. All i have left is a black and white photo of it.

I had a BOSS DC-2 Dimension C that was my favorite chorus of all time even to this day. I sold it to help pay for the first Zoom product whatever the heck that thing was...

And right now I am sorely missing the Spider II 212 I returned over the weekend. I know its a modelling amp and can't touch a tube but i have a Mesa Single Recto and god i love the Spider II. It's a lot of fun to play through and has a remarkably rich sound.

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

There are no guitars I regret selling, thankfully.

Since Gearjoneser mentioned it, I only regret selling one amp... the Hughes & Kettner Triamp. I still think about that amp to this day, it really was something special. I can't wait to hear the clips of their new amp, the Trilogy.

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

i only got rid of one guitar .. my first electric .. a guild s60-d ... i wish i still had it, but only for nostalgia reasons .. it wasnt particularly toneful or beautiful ... but it was my first one ...

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

An early '90's LP Studio. Was the best Studio I ever played. Haven't played one like it since.

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

Sold my first electric guitar 3 or 4 years ago with a cool guitar case LP-shape. :yell:
So, same situation like T4d.

It was nothing special. The pups were loose and the neck was sooo thick and actually I didn´t like to play it but nostalgia...:(

My father painted the guitar and put some effort into it...well, me dumb-a$$ :smack:

I only looked after the money..and it was actually such a small price

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

I've never sold any guitars, my Uncla gave me a Vox AC30 to practice with when I first started palying but it didn't work, that could've been good...

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

Hmmm, I regret selling my shoreline gold 62 ri strat in order to buy a 76 strat that looked and felt like my perfect strat, but never sounded like it. I also regret selling my fernandes revolver with sustainer. That guitar was FUN.

I regretted swapping my Mesa Blue Angel a bit, but the PRS i got in the deal has been well loved. And i managed to get the BA head back anyway.

Come to think of it, I also know the owner of the 62ri...

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

my RG450Ltd.... I sold it off because I hated the floating trem....
and about 2 months after i sold it off, ibanez removed it from their production line :smack:

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

I bought a late 50's Melody Maker once for a killer price...it had be thought the ringer so to speak but it had mojo, it had an Epiphone MImi-bucker from a LP Deluxe in the neck and a 55 P-90 in the bridge, a Loe Quan Bad Ass tailpiece, grover tuners, and the fattest neck I have ever held in my hands...I bought it and My fender twin the same day at teh same shop...on the way out the door a guy offered my $100.00 more that I paid for the Melody Maker that I had just paid for it...I sold it and havce been kicking my own ass ever since! that guitar looked like hell, but my god what a tone!

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.
