Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

My first guitar, an electric Takamine. I think they only made them for like a year, or two. It was one of the best playing guitars I ever had, and would stay in tune for days. Just an unbeleievably great guitar. I never understood why no one got into them.

My '59 les paul.

And the '59 les paul thing was a joke.
I don't regret selling any of my gear.

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

The only guitar I've ever sold was an Epi Les Paul Standard. I don't regret it one bit ... that thing was a pain in the ass from day one. It had nice tone and good playability, but it couldn't stay in tune to save its life. There must have been something wrong with the bridge as well, because I went through high E strings on that thing like a fat kid through a pie (yes, I tried filing the rough spots out of the saddle, no effect). One night the switch snapped off in the middle of a gig, and that was the last straw. I traded it in towards a Mesa DC-3, which I still own and am still very happy with.

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

My 2nd electric, which was a '71 black Tele with a Bigsby and a Gibson T-top in the fron. I traded it for a '76 strat, which I also miss. I modded the heck out of that, I had an ebony fretboard and jumbo frets put on it. Fenders are like Hot Rods, if you like the basic guitar, just keep it and change out the bits you don't like. I know, I know, as long as it's not "vintage"...

I wish I hadn't sold my '68 Epi Casino. It had a Bigsby too. The neck was skinny, but it had a great tone.

I'm not selling guitars anymore. I'm just gonna give 'em away when I don't want 'em....to my kids. They all want guitars now. I just got a new used Guild GF-25, so I'm giving my old Ovation to one of the boys. Just call me "The Enabler".

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

A 1969 LP Deluxe Goldtop (sold it for college tuition)

A 1978 SG Standard (sold it for college tuition)

A 1960-something Gretsch Tennessean (traded it for the SG, so I'm not that upset)

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

2 1979 B.C.Rich Bich 8 string basses one Bird's eye maple thru/Mahogany and the other Flame Maple/Koa-both full actives and cloud inlays-the Bird's eye one is still in the same city as me-so hopefully i can buy her back one day-other than those 2 i regret selling all 7 of my Washburn Status' and an OLd Bird's eye topped Ibanez Roadster II bass :smack:

I do not regret selling my Yamaha Attitude Ltd Edition crappy expensive bass

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

No regrets on a sale. I have one regret on a STOLEN (does that count?).

Gorgeous Byrdland in natural finish. 1978... still kills me!

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

An original 1965 Les Paul/SG Custom, white, three Pickup (all PAF'S) with gold hardware and Bixby.

A 78 Les Paul Custom with white top, black sides and back, never seen another one like it.

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

My early 90's Les Paul Standard w/ a Custom in the bridge and a 59 in the neck. That was THE best guitar I ever owned. Dumba$$ me.

My 1976 Explorer Korina. Sigh.

The LP deluxe I recently got from MF. Wish I had not sent it back. TONE/SUSTAIN MONSTER, and played phenomenally.

There are plenty others I miss...but don't really regret selling them....My 93 Deluxe Strat Plus w/ JB in the bridge. My 1988 LP Custom. My 1988 PRS Custom 10 top w/ birds. My early 90's Charvel Tele.

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

The only guitar that I sold was a Taylor 615C and I don't regret it..... I never liked the guitar. I replaced it with a Santa Cruz OM. :)

I did have a 63 Fender Jaguar that was stolen. I would love to have taht back. My Mom bought me an acoustic that she paid $19.00 for at Sears a very long time ago.... I don't know what happened to it, but I wish I had it still. My first electric was a Hagstrom 2... I sold that to buy my 68 SG which I still have.

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

A rather modified 1964 SG Junior, with a mini-humbucker and a DiMarzio PAF. WHY WHY WHY WHY!!!!!!!!??????? :smack: :banghead: :cussing: :crying:

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.

Two that I'd love to have back:

60's Gibson ES-175T Thinline version of the ES-175. Never seen another one since.
I guess they make the ES-137 now, but not the same.

70's reissue of a Les Paul Special with P-90s. Gotta love a slab of mahogany with P90s.

The one that I didn't buy:
A 50's telecaster that was absolutely alive. Terrible condition, the guitar had been re-routed and the pickups had been replaced with original Gibson PAFs. It was being sold "as is" with both sets of pickups. Could have picked it up for about $500 around 1980. I should have bought it, put the tele pickups back in and held on to the PAFs.

Rusty

Re: Which Guitars Do you Regret Selling.
